Just heard about this new training aid getting set to release at the Las Vegas expo in September.

It got me thinking as to what everyone's favorite training aid was, and why?

Hopefully you'll list something that can really turn our game around.

Sorry, but that new traing aid is called the PivotPro. Looks like a snowboard binding.

I agree with the local PGA pro. You could get 5 different training aids and use them to perfection, but unless they are fixing a major flaw, it won't do much good.

That being said, when I took lessons, the pro I went to had every training aid made it seemed like. We only used one...the inside approach. I was coming over the top big time and this really helped me. It provided instant feedback if you didn't swing properly, and just by looking at it, it made you think about swinging in the proper path.

I will judge my rounds much more by the quality of my best shots than the acceptability of my worse ones.

never used one
i recorded my swing the other day just to look at, not really for any "training"
never had a lesson either...guess you could say i have a "natural ability"

best training aid is something you might have lying around. A piece of PVC pipe, or a broom handle, and three golf balls. With this you can learn the golf swing in 4 moves.

My swing thoughts:

- Negative thinking hurts more than negative swinging.
- I let my swing balance me.
- Full extension back and through to the target. - I swing under not around my body. - My club must not twist in my swing. - Keep a soft left knee

I own 2 training aids that I believe are the best for my game. They are the 5-iron Medicus and the weighted Driver Maximus, both made by Medicus Golf.

I use the Medicus 5-iron mainly for tempo, and the Maximus for power.

Learn the swing in 4 moves? Haha...that's funny. It's like selling a can of hope.

A Mirror!!! it helps check your posture at setup, and at the top of your backswing. Once you get those down, it shouldn't be too much harder. Makes enforcing the fundamentals much easier. Just set up and check and do it over and over.

An aiming stick.
A shaft pulled from an old driver works well. Before each round I put it down on the range before I hit my shots. If my shots are going off line I now know its not in my aiming, its something I'm doing in my swing, and I can correct it without second guessing if its my aim or a slight block or whatever.

I agree with this.....in collaboration with a set of knowledgeable eyes.

    • Day 23: weird day, and only had a little bit of time. Just did mirror work again, working on where the elbow is in the downswing
    • I flipped over to this tonight and thoroughly enjoyed it. Anyone else watch? I picked it up during the golf relay event, but seeing these pros out having fun in alternative events was refreshing and entertaining. I’m sure it will be on in reruns in the next week or so, so I won’t spoil the outcome. Im curious what others thought of it. I’m recording it’s later airing to see the beginning.
    • Day 443 - 2025-12-17 Made a few swings in testing some things out at another academy. Might pop up on someone else's podcast in a few weeks.
    • Day 37 (17 Dec 25) - nine hole round with my good friend.  We got paired up with a couple of the men’s group regulars as part of their shootout.  Started off with a wonderful quad bogie and then a dbl on three to be six over thru three holes.  Game went 180° over the next five as I shot one under (including a chip in birdie on hole six and four up and down 1 putt pars) for a net finish of five over. What could have been a really tough nine became a solid finish due to staying in the moment and not checking out.  Great day in course management and keeping perspective .
    • Day 127 12-17 Backswing and flow practice. Took advantage of the 60 degeee weather(it was 20 degrees Sunday)
