it's worth it to point out ... the finau brothers are only 19 and 18 ... and have only been "pro" for 2 years. Not exactly a mellinium in the grand scheme of things.

Does anybody have a swingvision video or picture by picture sequence of any of the Finau brothers driving a ball? Doesnt make much sense to look at their swing with normal speed....

i've seen gipper play in a couple of event. Biggest issues are wedge play and course management. Not to say it is bad, but at the lower levels, you need to make TON of birdies and he doesn't have the short game to do it.

I really hope Andrew Guliani gets booted soon. That guy is really annoying and you can tell no one else on the show likes being around him.

Anything is possible. But there appears to be a bunch of guys that have less game and/or appear ready to throw-up on themselves before that seems probable. I saw much of it as I flipped to it during the many commercial breaks in the Yankee game. I thought the home run derby was a pretty decent idea of a stunt.

Yeah, the up and down challenge was a little surprising in the way it turned out. There seems to be a lot more nerves on the show than what you would think for a bunch of guys who have competed before.

A few of them already have played on the Nationwide Tour and qualified for PGA Tour events. I wasn't impressed either after the first episode, but I think it's a little premature to say they couldn't be successful. We only got to see a couple shots on the first show.

You're probably right, and I don't think I even realized it was the first show. LOL

Plus i'm sure there are some serious nerves/pressure out there, especially in the early going.

Several of these players annoy me to no end - Guiliani, KMart, and the guy married to the lady pro golfer (Kevin?).

I like the guy who was kidnapped as a child. He seems pretty solid on both his long and short game. Tony is very impressive and I hope he does well. Blake is marginal and I think he will be gone soon.

I think the producers look for someone like Andrew in every show. It gives you something to hope for. He does however seem to have game and I think that being in the public eye has given him nerves of steel. He, unlike the rest of the guys doesn't seem to want to thro up on himself. This show has more nervous nellis in it than any of the past shows I can remember.

The Wall Street Journal did a piece back a couple years back about what really goes on behind the scenes of these reality shows. Unscrupulous producers who give contestants access to unlimited free liquor but (oops) no food. What a surprise after a day in the sun, these contestants make comments they wouldn't ordinarily make. And of course we don't hear the questions, just the responses. If you don't think they're asking leading questions about Andrew (for example) you're kidding yourself. Anything to create a controversy and ratings.

Andrew has not disapointed me. I thought he would be the next Brian, although he probably a better player than Brian he certainly has the mouth.

If he is better than Brian, I don't think it's by much. Every season there seems to be that one person that really doesn't have the talent to win or go all the way but hangs around because they make smart decision's during challenges or just catch a lucky break. To me Juliani is that person this season. His bunker shot was clutch this week, I'll give him that, but his swing is NOT Tour Caliber! He just seems like he's better at playing the "Big Break Game" than he is playing "Real Golf"! You will see the real Juliani come out when he eventually ends up in a playing challenge and I think you will see a performance much like Ed's when it happens, and it will eventually happen!

It looks like Tony uses the FT-5. The same club as me. I guess this proves that there is nothing wrong with my driver!! Damn.

Awards, Achievements, and Accolades

Yeah, I like what Vincent's got too. I remember watching him for a few holes this past year in the practice round of the LA Open.

Can't discount Blake either. He may have looked a little rocky last night, but like he said, maybe underestimated the pressure a little. He'll turn it around. I remember talking to him after a tournament one day and he'd mentioned that he just finished filming the show. He was not shy about saying how nervous he got during play.

The club he was hitting in the homerun challenge looked like a FT-9 though.

But yes, seems like both of the Finau-brothers used FT-5s in the past.

    • Imma throw a dart in the dark as no one can tell what is happening once every fourth iron shot per your OP. This might sound counterintuitive but if ball position is too far back in the stance folks are known to throw down clubhead steeply. Could be happening. And yes, @billchaois not wrong; clubhead tends to bottom out wherever your pressure is. So slide forward (not sway), then hit.
    • Day 300 (!): did a stack session.
    • Day 24: Missed my weekly round due to a last minute little league makeup game this morning. Managed to get in some backswing rehearsals while grilling sausages for dinner, and then putted around the office/laundry room after dinner.
    • but I don't understand how that's possible you still want your head to stay back you don't want the upper body coming forward and plus I've tried feeling that and it made my fat shots worse and I then tend to pull and sky all my shots especially with driver because I get in front of it dont need force plates to see i finish on my left side
