I will be in Chicago on business the weekend of the PGA Championship in Medinah. My meetings are Thursday thru Saturday, leaving me the opportunity to either go to a Wednesday practice round or to "the big day" on Sunday. I know that the players are more open to the fans on practice days, but I also know that there will be an energy in the air on Sunday, especially if someone like Phil or Tiger is in the final grouping. Any comments or advice?

Go to both!

The players will NOT be very accessible on Wednesday. It's a major, after all. They'll be kinda buckled down at that point.

Wednesdays are usually a Pro-Am and they are very accessable. There may not be a Pro-Am before a Major.

The only good thing about practice rounds is that you can bring your camera and snap away without getting busted over the head by Stevie W.

I've been to a major on Sunday (US Open at Olympic in 98), and I gotta tell ya... it's electrifying.

I'd go Sunday in a heartbeat if given the opportunity. I've been to practice rounds for majors and yeah it's fun, but there will be nothing like being there on Sunday, especially if it comes down to the back 9 and a dramatic showdown of two studs.

Either way you're money but Sunday (or both) would be my choice!

I have been to one Masters, Freddie couples win. No I didn't see the shot that stayed on the bank. I quess that would be my point. Depending on the course and entry limits the crowds on Sunday can make it difficult to see anything, especially when the leaders start the back nine. I enjoyed the practice rounds more and the par 3 tournament was a hoot.

    • Day 9, May 13.  After work, I went to my practice room for a dozen balls (two sessions of a half dozen each).  I may do more later, but I wanted to make sure I posted here too.  Same priority as yesterday, with the arms lifting.
    • Day 263 6-13 Setup alignment stick station for hands off body drill. Worked on wrist arch as well. Working on not hitting the stick 😀
    • Day 64 (13 May 26) - last practice of golf team for the school golf team….got to hit a few balls while working with the kids.
    • Hi @RetiredOldMan!  I am glad to see you are still playing and having good scores.  I hope that when I am 79, I am not only able to play, but still able to produce as good scores as you have been doing.   I look forward to hearing more of your success and your opinion of the senior flex shafts.
    • Hello Golfing Buddies, It has been awhile since I posted but I am the Retired Old Man that asked for advice because I suffered two "T.I.A.'s about switching from playing right handed to playing left handed.  I purchased a Callaway Edge Left handed golf clubs. I changed the grips to oversize grips.  Well, two weeks ago and still at 79 years old, I shot a 44 and 47 on a small course in my hometown.  I am currently changing my shafts from regular flex to Senior flex.  So, you can see' it can be done! So, you other old timers; get with the program! Blessings to all of you. Retired Old Man (Terry Warner)
