My first post on this site, I started reading this entire thread. When I got to about page 40 and tried a few swings I decided this would be a good fix for me. I am rather tall and because of this I have a difficult time with swaying off the ball and not returning to impact position in time, resulting in an open club face. I thought that if I could stay forward it would help prevent my problem and S&T; would be a good fit for me. My book will arrive next week. Now I get to page 87 and I find out that this swing pattern has holes and this may not be such a good idea? My question is, should I backtrack and completely abandon this train of thought? Am I ok with continuing to work on this swing? Is all that has happened is a few complaints about actual weight forward compared to back as compared to claims from the authors If it is only actual weight compared to feel I am ok with that, but if there are real problems with info in the book, I would really like to know?

First off, welcome to the site.

Second, at your height, I assume you had your clubs custom made for your height..?

I'm only 6'1" using standard length and lie clubs, but I experience a push draw, which is what S & T promotes. I just began using this method so I can't tell you what the problem is, I'm sure with the knowledge here, someone will help you.

As to your question, no the book is fine, as long as you make some alterations with weight pressure as described in the applicable threads

Thank you very much for answering my question. I will continue on and monitor the boards for things I may need to alter. Yes, I have custom clubs, but not as bad as you would expect. I have a 7'1" wingspan so my clubs only need be 1" long and 3* up. But I am a long way from the ball with a 41" inseam so I am not the average size golfer. Thanks for your help guys. I do appreciate a board like this, that is civil most of the time.

I just started S&T; method but I not yet constant. I will love to get my hands on the dvd. I will pay for used one. Please help because I am having frustrating time breaking 100

I would have some highlights on this S&T; methods. I got the idea in my head but when I go practice i hit alittle more consistent then before..I need help Ibecause I been struggling for almost a year in my golf game and now I read about S&T.; This method has so far been pretty constant with my swing. I can really use some advice..

I hit with my irons a push shot now and then. I hate it. To me, my clubface matches my swingpath. Correct? I want to improve it in order to hit a baby draw. I could hit more in to out, hit to first base (like in baseball) so to speak, but I think (oh dear) that I probably hit enough in to out. So (another oh dear) I watched my grip a bit and made it a bit stronger. Also, at address I look closer at my clubface, a bit in closed position. It helped without losing distance. I would like to know if there is another solution. Like shifting the hips more down the target line or putting more weight on the left leg?

All things being equal (and that is assuming a lot) if you are able to increase the pressure on you left (lead) leg at impact you should be able to move your low point more forward. Again all things being equal with a low point more forward the path should be more to the right which should produce a draw...and possibly reduce you dynamic loft which may increase your distance.

Pff, all things being equal. I wish I had/could. I do not think if I hit 10 shots in a row, I hit them all the same. Maybe on a given day, but unfortunately nog consequently. Work to be done.

I saw my teacher a few weeks ago. Got some homework and an easy drill. Making half shots, with 2 rods on the ground. Incredibly I thought I was hitting in to out quit well, but the radar proved otherwise. In Holland, there aren’t a lot of places where you can hit from the grass. Almost everywhere it is from a mat. Not sure how much that has an influence. So, I took up my drill. Hit a few half shots, and then a full shot. I find it remarkable how far a ball will travel with just a half shot. Pure strike. I also noticed that the half shots will help me to get the tension out of my system. I am easing up a bit, relaxed and when I hit a full shot, crisp and solid contact. I hope I can take that to the course.

Back on the range after the festive period and striking as good as ever using S&T.; However, I seem to strike every iron straight right. They are lovely looking shots but just always about 10 yards right of the target, Is this a common issue/is there a fix?

The face is open (to the target) and square to the arc at impact, a swing path a little more right would transform this into a push-draw. For example, a little more hip slide and less rotation in the downswing should bring the path rightward, as would a higher handle at impact. On the other hand the problem could come from other pieces of the swing, so it's hard to give an actual recommendation without seeing your swing.

Did you see Will MacKenzie at T7 this past weekend?

He hasn't worked with Mike and Andy for a few years.
