Ok.... I know this is also off-topic but does anybody know if the Stack and Tilt swing promotes hitting down with driver? I tried it about 4 years ago and had a real hard time getting the driver up in the air. I guess as it relates to the topic, has anybody seen radar numbers with a stack swing and I'm wondering what it did to their path and attack angle numbers?

Yep they don't have an issue with hitting down with the driver. You can see their radar numbers on their 2.0 DVD or go to their Facebook group and ask to see the numbers.

I guess it depends how much you were hitting down, when you were trying to hit down. It's highly advantageous to have ample clubhead speed when hitting down. These guys aren't hitting down a lot, couple degrees at the most, and they swing plenty fast. With regards to the path if it's driver at roughly 45 degree VSP then for each extra degree down you hit, you will also shift the path right a degree like a 1 to 1 ratio. Hope that helps.

Is that why there's such a big splinter between all the former stack and tilt guys when it comes to the numbers? Like hitting up with driver? There's a video of that Mayo guy practicing that Stack and Tilt swing and hitting super low line drives. I know when I saw Chris Gustin years ago I felt like I was falling backwards and hitting everything thin. I'm trying to understand what all this drama is about:~(

Joe isn't a S&T; instructor and he doesn't teach a S&T; swing. He also didn't start playing golf in '09. Β Any further posts about Joe are off topic.

Average PGA Tour player hits 1.3 degrees down with a driver

Yes I'm award of that but a lot of these guts are saying how important it is to hit up with driver. Why are the Stack and Tilt guys ok with being down when all the former stack guys aren't?

Average PGA Tour player hits 1.3 degrees down with a driver

He also swings at 112mph. Most of us working stiffs are very near to 100mph. I guess we can try to increase our swingspeed, and we might with enough time, but it might be easier to hit up on the ball in the short term.

Hitting down, hitting up. Joe Average would be happy to hit the driver at all. Hahaha.

I am not sure how it works. Let us say the driver is 10.5 degree. That would be in the swee spot, right? So let us further say that if I would hit my driver near the top, the face would not be 10.5 but a bit higher, maybe like 12 or maybe even 14. So, am I correct that if I would hit up on the driver and i would hit it with the top Β of the club face, I would actually adding loft to the club, hence a higher or more of a balloon flight? And lacking a bit distance?

I would say hitting up is ok if you would have huge problems getting the ball up in the air.

At this moment I switched driver and put my OnOff driver on hold. Wonderfull driver, had a nice carry around 220 yards, but virtually no roll on the ball. I switched to a :mizuno: MP630 with aΒ Mitsubishi Rayon Fubuki 64 shaft. A bit lighter and lower torque. Smaller clubhead, 445 cc. Lovely club at address woth a screaming white shaft. A bit off topic. Sorry. Seem to have a bit more roll. Carry is more of the same. Gained a bit on well struck balls, to 230 yards. Would like to hit it at the bottom of the club so I am teeing it a bit lower.

The club I have the most problems with, are hybrids and 3w. I know what I am doing wrong and yet... Keep shouting to myself: relax! Mental crap...

Is this post about S&T;, or just hitting up on the driver? We have a thread for that...

Well, if I read back, there seems to be a discussion if you have to hit up with the driver and/or S&T; enables you to hit up (or hit down, for that matter).

As far as I know, media/popular golf instruction is saying that S&T; is no good for the driver because with S&T; you hit down on the golf ball.

Or move the ball up towards your big toe in your stance, close the stance a tad, bump the lead hip at address, and feel like you're throwing a boulder high into the air on the downswing - and you can use S&T; to hit up on the driver. When I was using an S&T; pattern type swing, I hit 4 degrees up on driver.

I moved the ball a bit up (must make sure I do it concequently as ever), bump the lead hip which makes me close my stance a bit. 3 out of 4. Trying to finish high, but that needs some practise. Thanks!

Try it without a club -- take a stance and feel as if you are throwing a boulder into the air ... just to assure you that's it more than just arms. Notice what the lower body does... and tee it high (standard height)

I've Β been going back and forth all summer with S&T; and conventional but by far the most consistent hits are coming from S&T.; I've had a lot of surgeries on my left knee and find that the stack is a bit much for it. Maybe I'm stacking too much.. Great post good to see that there are still players out there still using it.

Im way more consistent with every club in my bag using S&T.; Plus just this past weekend I was able to play 36 holes and that has never happened with a conventional swing. I was always too sore the next day.

Yesterday really set me back I was horrible shot a 103 course has a 130 slope. I went to see some youtube and this guy seems to explain it well. Any thoughts?

I was tilting my upper body towards the taget instead of just putting weight on my left side.

Do you have the book? I think it's around $15 right now on amazon even cheaper if you get the E-Version. Im not S&T; guru or anything just look at my handicap, but you're supposed to place the weight on your left side 55/45 as a baseline. The tilt towards the target happens on the backswing. I've read the book three times and I still use it as a reference when things start to break down.

Yes I do have the book I will re read it again. The visuals on youtube are really giving me the right messages that I need right now. I will continue using it hopefully something will click in the next few rounds. I pretty patient but the 103 was hard to swallow, mind you my short game wasn't all that great either which is why I'm reading he Art of scoring by Stan Utley. Great book so far.. :-)
