Alright... the MLB playoffs are over.

So lets get a thread going on the NFL season. It is midway point and some teams are shooting for pick #1 and some are shooting for the SuperBowl.

A few big games this weekend are on the horizon.

Bengals @ Steelers
Patriots @ Colts

Any bold predictions on the games and for future happenings in the NFL?

Well, it's looking like I won't get the Pats v. Chiefs AFC playoff that I wanted this year. I was hoping to see the two teams square off in a big game this season, what with the coaching shift, the QB shift, and that the Chiefs were the opponents when Brady was taken out last season.

As for November, the Colts and Saints will lose at least one game each.

Don't sleep on the Bengals. They've swept the Ravens and have a chance to get the sweep on the Steelers this week. I'm not generally a Cincy fan, but I'm ready for a change in the AFC.

True, the Bengals are for real. As much as Im not a Pittsburg fan (and REALLY not a Ben Rothlessberger fan), the Steelers are the defending world champs and are a VERY good team.

I'm still a Ravens fan, even though I haven't been able to watch as many of their games as I would like, do to work.

I knew the Saints were good, and was impressed with the way they dominated the Giants, but their 38-17 smashing of the Patriots makes them a worthy team to attempt being undefeated.

That was actually a pretty good game!! Its kind of funny because last year the Pats were undefeated, and now the Saints are undefeated

The Pats didn't make the playoffs last year. You're thinking of two years ago.

Ugh, the Patriots are such a tease. I just want to say them play 1 balanced game on offense. Run 1st, maybe 2nd down, 3rd down throw it to Welker, plus the occasional long ball to Moss. It cant be that hard.

That'd be good except for 2 things:

a) Our o-line sucks & b) We haven't had a decent running back in a few years now

Yeah the o-line does suck but they ran the ball well early in the Saints game but just abandoned it when they got down.

You are right. The Pats are not as strong overall as they were two years ago. I have not watched that many games, but their defense does give up a lot of points. To be a Super Bowl contender, a team has to have strong offensive and defensive units. The Saints, the Vikes, and the Colts all have shown they have that.

Boy, were the Saints lucky to escape with a 33-30 win in OT over the Redskins! And I had just praised their defense for their play thus far in the season. The Saints do have trouble in cold weather games, and that was one factor. Now, they go to Atlanta next Sunday. That may be an interesting battle.

The Pats lost to the Dolphins 22 to 21, showing further that they are not a real strong team. The Eastern Conference race has tightened up as the Dolphins and Jets are only one game back of the Pats.

The Bengals are officially a better team than the steelers. You can't deny it any longer. It isn't an opinion, it is fact. This year, the bengals are better (erik).

    • Probably since the golfer has to swing the club back and up. The hands have to move back and up. You can feel them go back and up just by turning the shoulders and bending the right arm, because it brings your hands towards your right shoulder.  The difference is if you maintain width or not. Less width means a shorter feeling swing path so the more you need to lift the arms. Being as someone who gets the right arm bend at 110+ degrees, it's 100% a timing issue. I am use to like a 1.5+ second backswing. It probably should be like 1 second at most. Half a second or more will feel like an eternity. I have had swings where I keep my right arm straighter and I am still trying to time the downswing based on the old tempo.  Ideally, for me, it is probably going to be a much quicker and shorter (in duration) backswing, while keeping the right elbow straighter. Which also means more hinging to get swing length without over swinging.

    • I'm currently recuperating from surgery, so no golf, but have been thinking about this quite a bit. This and the don't overbend the right arm thing. It's hard for me to even pose the position, so I'm not 100% sure, but I feel like it's impossible to have the right humerus along the shirt seam and not overbend your right arm, unless your hands are down near your hips. If the left arm is up at or above the shoulder plane and your right arm is bent less than 90 degrees, then your right humerus has to raise or your hands will get pulled apart. Your left hand can't reach your right hand unless either the right upper arm is up or the right arm is overbent. Is that right? If it is, then focusing on not overbending the right arm would force you to raise the humerus. And actually thinking further on it, if you do overbend your right arm, then you're basically forcing your upper arm down or forcing your left arm to bend. Since (for me at least) bending the left arm too much is not something I think I need to worry about, it means that the bend in the trail arm is really the driving force behind what happens to the right humerus.
    • I managed to knock off a 3, a 13, and a 15 a couple of weeks ago. The 3 was a 185 yard par 3 with a 6 iron to 12 feet. 13 was a 350 yard par 4, which was a 2 iron and a 9 iron to about a foot. 15 was a 560 yard par 5 with a driver in a bunker, 4 iron into the semi, gap wedge to 8 feet and a putt.
