Oh my god.....Tiger is human! Come on people..his personal life is none of our business.

This country has to get past this morals and values BS. No celebrity should have any affect on any one else's morals. If you were not taught morals and values by your parents, that is sad but it is not the responsibility of an athlete to do the job your parents should have done.

Tiger....if you need to take time for yourself and your family, I'm with ya but if you are doing it to appease your repressed and conservative fan base, I'm disappointed. I though you were a professional.

Unfortunately, Tiger is in the public eye and anything like this is inevitable. It is none of our business but it's the way the cookie crumbles if you are in the spot light.

Ahh yes his "Family' is only worth 4 months of his time.He should just let the wife and kids go as they do not mean as much as golf does and get on with his life and stop living a lie. Some people are not made to be married and should not try to be what they are not ie Tiger is not a "Family' man.Does not make him a bad person but if you show you are a phoney in this day and age you will be caught.

Thank you....reading people saying a year, maybe a year plus is just ridiculous....I would be shocked if he missed the Masters and I agree he may want one tune-up event....Tiger didn't make a mistake, he was living a certain lifestyle by choice and got caught....he's horribly embarrassed and I believe sincerely sorry for the pain to Elin and the kids...but make no mistake, Tiger is his own man and this will not impact him chasing down Jack....bottom line.

Exactly why he lost my respect. A real man doesn't check out on his family like he did. He's never going to live this down, ever. The fact that people think he's above the game is laughable. The game just caught him. I doubt he plays this year. He'll be in court a good portion of 2010, battling the accusers. The lawsuits havent even begun.

In my view, taking a hiatus is not a great idea- when he had knee surgery he probably got it on with a load of different hoes in his recuperation period...he obviously can't keep it in his trousers!

His clean cut image is gone and has been shown to be quite unscrupelous...who's to say he won't do the same thing again. He should get divorced and be a bachelor and then he can do what he wants. Tiger has been very lucky up until now and has enjoyed a charmed existence with the press.

Things will never be the same again for him.

I disagree I think playing right away would get all of this crap over with that hes going through. His children are little I dont understand why they just cant travel with him. Its not like they have school or any other commitments

Two quick comments.

First of all, you have no idea to what extent he "checked out" on his family. By all accounts he's a doting father. As a husband, well... But don't assume you know how he is as a father. Second, if you think Tiger has to appear in court, you're obviously not a lawyer...

I don't see why he needs a "hiatus." The cat's out of the bag and whether it is 4 women or 40 women, what difference does it make? He had relationships with a majority of them and they were not merely one night stands. Elin will never trust him, again. Neither would any other woman.

Quite frankly, as I wrote on another site, this has Alex Rodriguez written all over it. Like Alex, all of Tiger's dirt came out. If anything, he'll be a better player because everyone knows that his smile, etc. is all a manufactured image and he's a phony. That said, his greatest asset is his playing ability. And whether you like Tiger or not, one thing is undeniable. He's a dynamite player and you won't change the channel when he's on the tube.

My only wish is that he would have faced the camera like Kobe and Alex. Even if it seemed disingenous and every body language expert ripped him to pieces, he would be making an effort to make his apology face-to-face and allow his fans and detractors the opportunity to see if he was truly genuine. Writing a note on your personal website reeks of what many people already think: a selfish, control freak who only cares about himself.

So what you are saying is that his family would need to suffer even more for his nefarious actions? Small children usually do not travel very well. It would make their lives even more miserable..including Elin's.

"Hey Honey. Remember how I embarrassed and humiliated you publically? I think you and the kids should go on tour with me so you can see how I really screwed up."

I think he needs to find those guys that moved that big azz rock in the desert and place it squarely between him and the world so he can crawl under it. If that wasn't the biggest bunch of crap in golf, this is.
Something nobody has said is, golf is a Gentleman's game, is this how a Gentleman acts.
IMO Elin is staying for the kids and the money and why not she's is going to make him pay and pay and pay

well, hindsight has its advantage. it would have been a bold if not a smarter move if tiger had a press conference immediately after the car wreck and revealed to the world his extramarital affairs in a lump sum, instead of what we are seeing now, one thong at a time. he could have said:

if you guys can think of it, i probably have done it, but i plan to put an end to it. but our instinct is to hold the cards as close to our chest for as long as possible. since every move is orchestrated to some extent by his team of superagents who are good at playing hard to get, the development we have seen is really quite inevitable. i disagree that tiger can be regarded similarly with kobe and a rod, that he needs to take cues from their experiences. tiger is a world icon who is going into the history books, with or without this fiasco. kobe and a rod in comparison are small time dealers. i hope tiger learns to grow some thick skin and go after his missions like clinton did after his interngate. come to think of it, clinton is probably the only one standing after major, embarassing exposure of affairs.

you really feel like Tiger of all people needs to earn money? With the money they have now they could finance their lifestyle for the rest of their life.

The amount people on this site feel Tiger owes them is depressing.

Golf is in trouble if Tiger hangs it up.

No it isn't. I would like to see golf return to its roots of civility. It has been debased by mainstream obsession in a celebrity as this circus demonstrates most clearly.

    • If that's what defines block practice, then no, I haven't either. But the point is there is limited or no variable repetition required to learn steering/car turn relationship. I certainly have seen people repeat a bar '100 times' in learning a piano piece until they hit the notes in the right sequence and the right timing/tempo, before they move to the next bar and so on and forth.  I listened to Dr. R's podcast twice now, to make sure I'm not misunderstanding. It seems block practice is being equated to mindless hitting by some and deservedly gets a bad rap if so. I like what he said but think people can do 'random' just as mindlessly. I am preaching to the choir here but from my perspective this boils down to the being specific and mindful in your practice. Hitting 50 straight seven irons has it's value if it is done to specifically learn a hand position before delivery (random eg.), since the feel they are trying to internalize is universal regardless of the club. Eventually they need to vary the club to replicate the same feeling to add more variables.
    • In driving a car you have all sorts of random or variable parts, though. Different speeds, corners, conditions, size of turns… even different cars and sizes, different traffic and laws (lights, signs, etc.). I don't think I've seen anyone doing "block practice" to practice the same exact turn 100 times, then trying it in the real world.
    • IMHO, block practice is good. Any new motor pattern or a 'move' has to be committed to muscle memory and be reproducable at command without conscious thought as the final goal. I don't see how this is that much different than learning how to drive a car, or let's say how to handle the steering for example. One must do it enough times and then also do it in different situations to commit to all layers of brain - judgment of demand, decision making, judgment of response and finally execution. Unless each layer is familiar of each of their role in the specific motor move, it is not truly learned and you will simply fall back to the original pattern. I think the random practice is simply committing the learned pattern to different scenarios or intervals of time to replicate in the real world (actual rounds). It breeds further familiarity learned from block practice. Steer the car a hundred times to learn the move (block) and then drive the car all over town to make it real world (random) to a level of maturity. I don't see how block and random have to be in conflict with each other.
    • Yea, I think the first thing is to define block, variable, and random practice with regards to golf.  The easiest one might be in practicing distance control for putting. Block practice would be just hitting 50 putts from 5 feet, then 50 putts from 10 ft then 50 putts from 15 ft. While random practice would having a different distance putt for every putt.  In terms of learning a new motor pattern, like let's say you want to make sure the clubhead goes outside the hands in the backswing. I am not sure how to structure random practice. Maybe block practice is just making the same 100 movements over and over again. I don't get how a random practice is structured for something like learning a new motor pattern for the golf swing.  Like, if a NFL QB needs to work on their throw. They want to get the ball higher above the shoulder. How would random practice be structured? Would they just need someone there to say, yes or no for feedback? That way the QB can go through an assortment of passing drills and throws trying to get the wright throwing motion?  For me, how do you structure the feedback and be time effective. Let's say you want to work on the club path in the backswing. You go out to the course to get some random practice. Do you need to set up the camera at each spot, check after each shot to make it random?  I know that feedback is also a HUGE part of learning. I could say, I went to the golf course and worked on my swing. If I made 40 golf swings on the course, what if none of them were good reps because I couldn't get any feedback? What if I regressed?
    • I found it odd that both Drs. (Raymond Prior and Greg Rose) in their separate videos gave the same exact math problem (23 x 12), and both made the point of comparing block practice to solving the same exact math problem (23 x 12) over and over again. But I've made the point that when you are learning your multiplication tables… you do a bunch of similar multiplications over and over again. You do 7 x 8, then 9 x 4, then 3 x 5, then 2 x 6, and so on. So, I think when golf instructors talk about block practice, they're really not understanding what it actually is, and they're assuming that someone trying to kinda do the same thing is block practice, but when Dr. Raymond Prior said on my podcast that what I was describing was variable practice… then… well, that changes things. It changes the results of everything you've heard about how "block" practice is bad (or ineffective).
