Books that you'd recomend?

I discovered Vince Flynn and Brad Thor a few years ago. I just finished the last Brad Thor release in paperback and am starting on Extreme Measures by Vince Flynn now.

I've got the new release of Flynn's loaded in my iPhone for some reading while on the go...first book I've tried like this.

Thor and Flynn sort of take up where Tom Clancy leaves off....they really get into the tip of the spear action of our modern day war on terror. It's fiction but it mirrors real world events in many ways. It's entertainment, though, not some deep reading for you to ponder....just simple entertainment.

I was in Books-a-Million last week and picked up the new Stephen King release, Under the Dome. Thing is over 1,000 pages in hardback.....gonna take a while to get through that monster.

The last golf related stuff I read were the Utley books. Great stuff. I gained more from the putting book.

I could recommend stuff a little more ethereal. Are you interesting in books that will make you ponder or the dime a dozen action books? Want a good solid read? Pick up Hunter Thompson's "Hells Angels"...that was a fun book. You'll finish it in a couple of days.

Driver: R11s 9 with a Fubuki Tour 63 X-Stiff
Fairway Wood: R11s 15.5 with Miyazaki Kusala Black 83 X-Stiff

Hybrid: taylormade.gif 4 with Fubuki 515 X-Stiff
Irons: titleist.gif Forged 660 3-PW with Dynamic Gold X-100

Wedges: callaway.gif CC Jaws 52 and 58 Degree
Putter: ping.gif In Anser 2

These are not in your genre of choice, but here are three books I just finished reading that were great:

Hunter S. Thompson's The Rum Diary
Howard Zinn's A People's History of the United States
John Feinstein's Tales from Q-School

Constantine

The Twilight saga LOL

I visited with my sister this past weekend. She has finished the first two and liked them.

She was in the process of renting the first movie and then going to see the second one. I think at the last minute she changed her mind and went to see Blind Side. She's raved about it since...saying it was one of the best movies she's ever seen.

I have to say that the acting in both movies (I've already seen New Moon) is probably THE WORST acting ever... Isn't Blind Side a book as well?

Hahahaha, +1.

If you haven't read American Psycho, do so. Bret Easton Ellis kills the book, and Christian Bale suits the role more than you'd ever know without reading it. I don't read a lot of fiction, I generally read books on the light side of science. "13 Things That Don't Make Sense" was a great all-round book, from the depths of astronomy and physics to virology, it covered everything in a "just past layman knowledge" kinda way. "Junk Medicine" is a great read, if a little pretentious, pertaining to the heroin addiction 'farce' it argues that heroin addiction is no worse than smoking addiction. Pretty interesting read to get probably the only "other side" of the argument that's been published. "Bad Science" by Ben Goldacre is great, it's a collection of columns from the British newspaper The Guardian (probably the only good thing to come out of this paper..) exploring the ludicrous side of science, the claims made by companies, the skewed data leading to certain discoveries, that kind of thing. Something you can read in quick bursts without much time devotion. Anyway, if you're not interested in science much, this post can be summarised as: "Read American Psycho."

dub if you like Brad Thor you will probably love Clive Cussler and anything Robert Ludlum writes.

    • True, true. I should do that. He really did go off during that run, I remember now. Appreciate the context.
    • I am pretty sure it is this. Word probably got around. The reports coming out now is that he bombed some interviews, and when pressed about it during the interview just basically had a horrible response. His attitude is crap. There are stories about him throwing his players under the bus at Colorado. I get it, he's not playing behind the best O-Line or have the best weapons (outside of Travis Hunter). That is bad leadership, bad attitude.  Also, it could be his dad as well. Who would want Prime Time chattering.  Go watch the playoff run. Four top 10 teams. He was elite. The Penn State game happened with our starting left guard shifting to left tackle and going up against the 3rd pick in the NFL draft. He had two big mistakes early. The pick, which looked to be a defensive play call to trap that RPO quick out, and then the fumble off his knee. He won the game besides that.
    • Day 2: Speed training session
    • Yea I admit too I had more of a 2nd round evaluation on him, where I wrote in my notes "Maybe Geno Smith" after watching a couple games. Too many screens, too many sacks, awkward throwing motion at times, low velocity at times. Too low. At other times though I thought he made some nice throws, hence why I thought he should've probably gone around round two. So to me the free fall is surprising to an extent, but of course, it all makes sense now that he's still sitting there. He probably bombed his interviews too, and I know almost nothing of his personality. I love sports betting, hence why I love following this stuff, but there's only so much I can know from the outside looking in. But yea, my 2nd round guess was smart to an extent, but also bad now that he's still on the board and it's pick 4.17 at the moment. I see. Thanks for the take, I know you watch every game of theirs.  I just watched some of the Penn State game and can see both the upside and why he's still available. But I can get on board as well that Howard has more upside than Sanders too. Tougher competition, showed some growth from K-State to Ohio State.  I guess the question marks with Howard are processing and accuracy. Yea especially for us as fans. We don't get to interview these guys or talk to their college coaches to get a better idea of what they'll be like to work with everyday. We don't know who will end up being more durable and whose body will just naturally break down over the next few years. Some guys are great talents who go to terrible situations too, who are poor system fits in failed regimes. Other guys hit the jackpot with the perfect role on a great team in a weak division. There are so many variables.
