Glad to hear the accident hasn't bruised your appetite for this great game.

Youthful enthusiasm will be what is needed throughout your physical therapy sessions. Keep grinding away and look for the improvements.

Who knows what changes will be noted in your game. You may loose some swing speed at first...only to gain it back later on. Just wait and see about that.

There may very well be a perfect hybrid for you that will deliever the same results you used to get with your 2 iron....but with an easier swing.

Keep pushing yourself and focus on the positive aspects of your game.

Sorry they are over You can play golf but competitive pro golf no. The pelvis coordinates your swing. With screws it will never be the same. Hope you got a college degree.

I'm too stubborn to not play competitively again... I might carry six hybrids in my bag but i'll play competively again

First, I wish you a full recovery. I'd say take it a day at a time and see. I'd think that if you love the 2i that much you would find a way to hit it. If not a hybrid is always a option. Personally I love my 2i and have no plans to kick it out of the bag.

I'm not that great a golfer but I really enjoy working with my 3 iron. I am certain you will be using your 2 iron with great success again.

Good luck with your recovery. I think Tiger still carries a 2 iron and your swing speed before your accident was 4mph faster than TW. As long as you can recover you should have no problem with the 2i. More bite than a hybrid on those par 5 second shots.

If you end up not being able to generate enough swing speed to hit a 2 iron, you might want to try the Mizuno MP Fli-Hi s. They still look like irons, but launch higher.

Now there's a fine example of logic! I daresay that swing speed has less to do with it than ability to hit it squarely. Not to mention swing speeds that are posted on the internet....

Because the best player on the planet can hit a 2 iron doesn't mean that someone with a similar swing speed can continue to after major surgery.

In the race of life, always back self-interest. At least you know it's trying.

yea but a major factor for long irons is swing speed you need a relatively high swing speed to get those irons airborne

Good thing that "tour pro"

isnt your physical therapist. I would say focus on recovering 100%, and then hit what you want to hit. Hang tough and well wishes for a speedy recovery. -Beane

Well, it's not due to injury but I will be retiring my 2 iron this winter. I absolutely love the club, it's a versatile club that carries just a touch of ego with it, but I am switching it out to an 18 degree hybrid. The deuce doesn't give me the option on hitting a 240-260 yard shot off of anything but a perfect lie so it was time to evaluate my game and make a decision.

I'm sure that my first round where I don't have that shiny forged blade with 2 on it will be a sad one. But I imagine the first time I pure the hybrid from a mediocre lie over trees to a guarded pin, my sentiments will change.

I've had those and think that the Bridgestone Air Muscle is better.

    • Day 23: weird day, and only had a little bit of time. Just did mirror work again, working on where the elbow is in the downswing
    • I flipped over to this tonight and thoroughly enjoyed it. Anyone else watch? I picked it up during the golf relay event, but seeing these pros out having fun in alternative events was refreshing and entertaining. I’m sure it will be on in reruns in the next week or so, so I won’t spoil the outcome. Im curious what others thought of it. I’m recording it’s later airing to see the beginning.
    • Day 443 - 2025-12-17 Made a few swings in testing some things out at another academy. Might pop up on someone else's podcast in a few weeks.
    • Day 37 (17 Dec 25) - nine hole round with my good friend.  We got paired up with a couple of the men’s group regulars as part of their shootout.  Started off with a wonderful quad bogie and then a dbl on three to be six over thru three holes.  Game went 180° over the next five as I shot one under (including a chip in birdie on hole six and four up and down 1 putt pars) for a net finish of five over. What could have been a really tough nine became a solid finish due to staying in the moment and not checking out.  Great day in course management and keeping perspective .
    • Day 127 12-17 Backswing and flow practice. Took advantage of the 60 degeee weather(it was 20 degrees Sunday)
