bought myself a set of Cobra S2 Forged Irons 4-PW...SOOOOO nice.

My dad got me a Cleveland CG12 Mirror Chrome 60 degree Wedge...first lob wedge i've owned so I'm looking forward to using it tomorrow.

So far just the book "The Physics of Golf." Interesting read. Might get a bit more later, not sure. The book makes a pretty compelling argument that I don't actually need any more equipment until I've got my swing under control...

In the bag:
FT-iQ 10° driver, FT 21° neutral 3H
T-Zoid Forged 15° 3W, MX-23 4-PW
Harmonized 52° GW, Tom Watson 56° SW, X-Forged Vintage 60° LW
White Hot XG #1 Putter, 33"

a tee. green in color-- and i dropped it on the fairway and now i can't find it.

I only needed gloves, so I got a pack of 3. That's the only golf-related item I needed.

Didn't really need much golf related this year, but I got 2 dozen Pro V 1 X; I also got a new Kodak mini camcorder, which I plan to use for my golf swing.

-Also asked for a Warrior Custom Golf 60° Lob Wedge. My mom ended up finding they were having people test their clubs so I got a Lob Wedge, Sand Wedge, and Gap Wedge for free and I just have to test their Driver and 3 Wood. They also gave me a dozen balls. Love their balls, just too pricey for me($29.99 a dozen). I'll probably buy the 3 Wood, I love the thing. Not sure about the Driver though, it didn't impress me. Still, the Driver gave me 15 yards to my drive and I was actually hitting a slight fade compared to a wicked slice. Wasn't exactly what I was looking for, though.

My parents gave me $500 to spend on golf clubs so I'm going to the new PGA Superstore that just opened up close to me. Gonna be a woman and be there all day.

I was as surprised as anybody that I got it because we are a mid-middle class family. We have enough to get by pretty well, with a little left over if need be. I didn't expect this I'm so happy

i got i don't even know how many golf balls from my dad and grandmother. at least eight dozen. evidently a local sporting goods store had nike power distance golf balls on sale (i've told my dad i prefer nike power SOFT, but he evidently misheard and thinks i prefer power DISTANCE, but i wasn't going to correct him or complain). anyway, he pretty much wiped out their entire inventory. golf balls can't go bad over time, can they? haha, there's just no way i'm going to lose that many balls. it'll be the end of next year before i even get halfway through them.

from my mother, i got byron nelson's autobiography, "how i played the game," shell's wonderful world of golf - palmer vs sanders vs beard, and then shell's wonderful world of golf - snead vs nicklaus. (i fancy myself a bit of a golf historian and positively thrive on watching/reading about matches/tournaments that were played anywhere between 40 and 60 years ago).

i was super duper excited to get the snead vs nicklaus dvd. i'd actually just been wondering a week or so ago who would win between them in a long-driving contest. in this match, snead is 50 and nicklaus is 23, and nicklaus outdrives snead on every hole by about 15-20 yards. you can tell that irked snead to no end, haha. they even mention at one point "snead's not accustomed to being outdriven." a great little dvd.

    • This!!! Shocking how fast I forget this for chipping and pitching because I’m thinking of the other stuffs. This just cleans up contact so much. 🤣🤣🤣
    • I've never used an aid. I dramatically improved my putting with two things. First, I realized I'd let my hands drift too far forward and it was messing up my eye for lining up to my close alignment point on the line to my aim point (I don't use the aim point system but do my reads by finding where I think I should try to hit the ball to for it to end up rolling in the hole). I set up a few cues for myself around setup to make sure my hands were in the right place. Second, I found a stretch on the shitty, thin carpet over concrete in my basement that didn't break. Then I set up two alignment sticks end to end (obviously in a straight line), and laid down a cup on its side at one end. Then I just put a golf ball the same distance from the alignment sticks as the center of the cup and lined up and tried to roll the ball parallel to the alignment sticks into the cup over and over and over. I've been solid at distance control since I got fit for my putter. Ingraining a feel for whether I've lined up correctly when I take a glance at my aim point has dramatically improved my putting. I'm no pro or anything, but I putt well for the number of rounds I get in these days.
    • Day 293: played 18. Really pleased with it - started with 3 bogeys but managed to shoot +5. Hit the ball well overall, and had some really good short game shots.

    • I actually enjoy watching the women players on YT more than the men because I can relate far more to how far they hit it and hence their club selection.  Too many of the guys are bombing it over 300 carry and that makes it difficult for me.  It doesn't hurt that the women are pleasing on the eye, but that is just a bonus.  What draws me to a channel is being able to say I could potentially hit those shots/distances if I practiced a bit (probably LOT) more 🙈
