if i let it all hang out he has about 20 yards on me.maybe not as accurate but i have repeatedly on demand flew the 350 sign on the range but due to accuracy i do not do this on course.that is flexibility he has an advantage in the coiling and uncoiling of the body, which i do not have, but, here is my point 98% of people i have played with could increase distane by becoming stronger and a heavily weighted club will strengthen every golf muscle in your swing if done correctly.i was mearly trying to help the members of the board with what has helped me increase distance dramatically.so for trying to help members i am sorry, for getting into arguments with yourself and mike i am to sorry.

Due to the fact i have played with wedge player i can vouch for his power. And from this i believe what he has to say with power i believe him,im no short knocker either.FWIW i believe him and his keys to power.

Swinging a heavy club and hitting balls I think leads to being a big hooker (I know, poor choice of words).

It's all timing, yes muscles help!

Take an old 2 iron, or steel 5 wood or steel 3 wood shaft. Remove the clubhead. Tape about 8ct. - 16 penny nails (SECURELY) with multiple wraps of duct tape on the end, nails running with the shaft of course...we are not building a weapon!.

Work on the fast "switch" at the bottom of your swing. Your arms will feel slow.

ive swung a graphite shaft with no clubhead on it and its so fast i didnt know what was going where lol.i couldnt register the bottom of the swing,if only i could go that fast with the clubhead on the shaft lol.

Thats what I was talking about with Charles Barkley at the beginning of the thread. There is a point where too light is counter productive and the feel is taken out.

The nails add the weight to resemble an actual club, with much less drag. It's a poor mans overspeed device. Swinging an unweighted shaft or a club "backwards" will only make cool sounds.

jamie's average is more around 390 meaning it only takes an average 370 to be there

i have repeatedly on demand flew the 350 sign on the range

I must go to wimpy driving ranges, because I've never seen one with a 350 sign. Once in a while 300, but definitely not 350. Is this a Texas thing, or have others seen such optimistic range owners?

Does muscle mass allow you to swing faster? To a point it must however, there has to be a point where that ends. If that was the case the biggest guys would always hit the ball farther.

The more muscle that you have, the less flexible you are. Since the golf swing is about flexibility AND strength, you have to balance the two.

Uh, yeah, cuz that's what I said...??? You're probably much stronger than Jamie Sadlowski, but that guy hits the ball 30% farther than you. Oops. I'm not the strongest guy on my hockey team, but my wrist shot and slap shot are much harder than a lot of the stronger guys.

I'll bet your wrist and slap shots are harder than stronger guys because of technique. Jamie Sadlowski's technique (and flexibility and massive lag) allows him to hit the fall really, really far. I don't think wedge player is or ever has said that strength trumps technique. I think he meant that strength plus technique is what we need to hit it far. I know this concept is obvious, but wedge player told us what he did to increase his golf muscles.

No one thinks that slow twitch muscles matter in a golf swing? Really? Obviously being stronger in general will increase the distance you hit the ball. Strength+technique is key.

Thanks for the tip wedge i'm willing to try it. How did you secure the wrench to the clubhead?

i used alotta string and once i finished tying the string i used a roll of electrical tape its held for about a year now.i can post pics if youd like.

I know personally that strength has a lot to do with distance. I broke my wrist and then got mono after getting my cast off. I ended up loosing over 20 lbs from mono and I lost alot of muscle. I was lifting pretty good before I broke my wrist and I was hitting the ball the farthest I ever have. Once I got totally healthy I lost about 20 yds from before my wrist breaking incident. Thats just my .02 cents

    • Nothing exposes low point control, and for that matter the general quality of ball striking like tight lies. Lol! I am at a crossroad. My days of playing with a super strong left hand grip are coming to an end it seems. I'm finding it increasingly difficult to maintain proper face control through impact as the club face naturally wants to turn over. The quality of strike and ball flight difference when I weaken the grip is stark. Problem is a weaker grip is at odds with my poor sore left forearm which I have been nursing for last few days after 3 days of demanding golf. As of now I will continue my 'transition' to a weaker grip with woods and hopefully my forearm will condition as I go along. Maybe someday I'll get to a normal address with irons too.Β
