I found a 20% off discount code for golf galaxy and it works for the CG4 irons. Is %550 a good price for these sticks? I'm playing TA5's now but I think getting some CG4's fitted may help my game out.

does 550 include fitting? Otherwise if you want to save money - I'm always looking eBay first. Looks like you should land a set for $450 or so ( example : CG4 Irons ). Make sure seller has whole bunch of items sold and good feedback ratio - if you don't care for customized clubs, but the price is important - can't go wrong...

They both look so similar that I'm not sure you'd be gaining anything by getting the cg4's. I'd find out what the difference in head size, offset, and loft is in the two irons before you decide. If they are as close to each other as they look you won't gain anything by getting new irons unless you are getting different shafts.

What are you trying to accomplish by switching? Bored with current set, looking for a new design, wanting more or less offset, a smaller or bigger head, thinner or thicker topline?

Another 2 cents from me.

I am sure the fitting is included with their irons. I'm thinking I may need stiffer shafts, my TA5's have never been fitted so i'm not sure if my loft/lie/grips are correct. I am also unsure of shaft lenght, I play with +1" now (I'm 6'2") but my swing has been changing so it may not be a good time to change up...

CG4's normally go for $699. Good price!

I pulled the trigger, I ended up getting them for $400 with a CG11 50 degree wedge thrown in. I got the 20% discount as well as did a tradein for two old sets I had for a 155 credit. I just got back from playing them and let me just say that I am extreemly satisfied. I hit some beautiful shots inside of 15', and the few mishits i had were amazingly forgiving.

Regarding the fitting, I was playing with +1" stif flex TA5 irons and it turns out i should have been playing standard lenght/lie/grip/and regular flex shafts. I think the fitting would have bee worth the $50 even though they discounted it with the purchase of the irons. Now i just need to get my distances down with these, i hit 2 in the water on par 3s.

the coupon code is online code is 506058, good 8/8-8/14. there are some restrictions as you will see when you go to checkout and enter the code, but the great part is they will match the online price in their store.

I "pulled the trigger" on a new set of Ping G5's this summer and two weeks later got a hole-in-one, LOL. I've also apparently purchased some luck!!

Way to go! I'd say you made the right purchase based on the HIO.

    • I'm quoting myself, only because I want to link up to the relevant information from the Rules.  These are the current rules, but I don't think the 2016 version differed very much.  First is Rule 16.1, for relief form Abnormal Course Conditions.  A cart path is an Immoveable Obstruction, one of the four ACCs.   Others have quoted the provision that you can't take relief for an unreasonable stance or type of swing, it sounds like relief was appropriate in this case.  The Reference Point is the Nearest Point of Complete Relief, and a diagram is provided.  So we refer to the Definition of the Nearest Point of Complete Relief.  The NPCR allows relief from the cart path, for the type of swing the Player would have made if the cart path had not been there.  Specifically, the Definition says: "The nearest point of complete relief relates solely to the particular condition from which relief is being taken and may be in a location where there is interference by something else" So there might be interference from a tree or bush, a clear swing isn't guaranteed.  I'll go back to Clarification 16.1/1, which says that Relief from an ACC might result in better conditions, or worse conditions.  However, the NPCR for a ball in the General Area MUST be in the General Area (Rule 16.1b), its not in a Bunker of a Penalty Area.  That's not to say you might not have to stand in a Bunker or Penalty Area, just that the Ball won't be in it. You can find all of these on the Rules of Golf app on your phone, or on the USGA's webpage: https://www.usga.org/rules/rules-and-clarifications/rules-and-clarifications.html#section=rules&itemNum=19&subItemNum=1
    • Maybe they wouldnt be tearing them up if shots that  miss the green or fairway were penalized with deep rough
