My 3 and 5 woods need new grips.

I can hit them pretty good but the local pro-shop are charging 30 euro (40 dollars) for re-gripping the 2 cubs.

I was wondering about purchasing a 4 wood instead.

What do you think?

Why not regrip them yourself? It's very easy and very cheap. I regrip my clubs myself every year for the fraction of the cost of having them done by others.

http://golf.about.com/od/golfclubsco...pgolfclubs.htm Seems pretty complicated and I'd need to get a lot of stuff to do it. Is there a simpler way to do it?

I haven't read your link, but here is what I do:
1. Purchase grips, a regripping solvent and a double sided tape. All are available in any golf shop.
2. Remove old grips. If your club has metal shaft, this is simply slicing the grips with a knife.
If you have a graphite shaft, you need to hold the grip up a bit while cutting it with a knife.
Once you do one, it becomes very easy.
3. Clean the shaft by removing old dbl sided tape, etc.
4. Wrap the dbl sided tape to the cleaned shaft. I wrap it like a barbershop sign. Plug the small hole in the butt of the new grip with a tee.
5. Pour a small amt of the regripping solvent into the plugged grip.
6. Remove the protective layer from the dbl sided tape and pour some regripping solvent onto the expose dbl sided tape.
7. Slide the grip (which has a small amt of regripping solvent inside) onto the shaft. This is easy when the shaft and the grip have the regripping solvent on them.
8. Reposition the grip, if necessary.
9. Let it set for at least 24 hrs.

That's it. Like I said, after you do one it is so easy you'll wonder why anyone would pay to have it regripped.
6.

Basically the same as the link.

Doesn't seem hard and It'll save me a lot of money. I'll try it out. Thanks!

I can regrip, but for $1-2 or whatever the guy I uses charges, sometimes it's not worth the time. He's making money on the grips too (in bulk).

When it's cheap, I agree, but some take outrageous prices for work like regripping, adjusting loft, lie etc.

Really, i just had my putter lie adjusted for $5. Scotty Cameron might charge $45 to do it, but at most golf superstores they do it on the cheap.

Is the pro shop giving you grips embedded with gold threads? That's really expensive. Golf Galaxy would do both $20 or less grip plus installation. (Generally less unless you get a really pricy grips).

Take Yukari's advice and regrip it yourself. Also... you might start a cottage industry regripping for friends if the pro shop charges that much. You could be Limerick's entrepreneur of the year....
