Come on he can't field questions in that format. No way in heck. Now if he wants to go that route and maybe have a bit of control then maybe his next move is an Oprah apperance. Or maybe not.

What do you think he's going to get when he returns to tournament golf and does his after the round press conference? I would rather get it out of the way now and then he can say 'I have already answered all those questions'. And that will be it.

I've discovered the script online:

"I've messed up guys... I should have got married after I broke Jack's record. I'm going to win every major this year and retire there after."

P.S. Don't tell Duval, he has my number.

Well he will give the ole no comment and then a big burly security guard will escort the loose lipped "reporter" out of the tent. LOL

I get your point. But I see a slow methodical progression on this deal. One thing Tiger has not given up on is trying to control the situation. Yeah so far....well not so good. Though then again if you think about it and when you consider the unprecedented nature of the situation and his global reputation. Hard to say he would have been any better going another route with this. (I lean towards his approach is working as best as you can hope for) I guess he can always recite the Sinatra song "I did it my way". One thing he had going with him from the start is there were no crimes involved per say. A lot of these deals the main player has to show some remorse BIG TIME right off the bat just to get a possible future jury to at least look at them in a fair light or to please a prosecutor. (IE Kobe Bryant maybe a Eliot Spitzer) So does he open with "Hello World" this time around? LOL

I don't think the media will stop even if he answered questions. I've seen the media ask the same substantive question in a dozen different ways.

I thought about putting "Goodbye World" at the end of my fake script but It sounded too dumb...

LOL

Well now......what 14 plus years later? How about "Earthlings Welcome To My Planet"? LOL Yeah that is dumb too. I guess we are fired before hired as speach writers for Tiger! LOL

I pretty much agree. The media and his fans may not be entitled to any information concerning his private life, but he will not be able to put this crap to rest until he truly has an open session with the media. Let them fire all the questions they want, answer them the best you can and it's done with.

I think I agree with you ... but what type of information are we talking about? What do you think are the list of questions that should be thrown out? I believe their should be some golf relation, I'm thinking:

*Did these affairs possibly affect your game since there are reports that women were with you during tournaments? not *What type of acts were you doing with these ladies since there are reports that some kinky and athletic stuff occurred?

Yeah let's face it. That is SUCH, a no way he can win, situation. He could sit there for 48 hours answering questions and the best thing that will come out of it is he was elusive or something like that.

Do this. Do Oprah and play with the cards that are dealt to him from there on out!

Ok go on Letterman. Or go play bass guitar with Huckabee! LOL Or maybe even Obama will interview him. They can have beer gate out on the South Lawn while chipping golf balls into Mrs. Obama's garden. (actually that sounds fun!) LOL

Another funny thing they are saying is that he is taking away coverage of the accenture tournament the same company that used to sponsor Tiger lol

A press conference at 11am doesn't do anything for a tournament at 3pm. And, as even Tim Finchem said, it puts a focus back on golf and people will tune in to see what other people say.

I don't know why he's bothering with a press conference such as this. He could have just posted a statement on his website that would have accomplished the same thing.

Right... he was criticized for doing that the first time around. It's obvious he feels it's time to say something in person.

Like I said, who cares... I'm interested in when he next plays golf. Nothing more.

Nothing good for anyone could come out of an open floor at this point. This way he can cut off the stupid rumors about when/if he'll be back, he can apologize (again), and that's all (and perhaps more than) he needs to do. Really, what questions are there that could be asked and answered that would help anything at this point? I look forward to perhaps knowing whether he'll be back for the US Open, since I'll be attending. Other than that, I just hope that this works out well for him, his family, and for the golfing community.

I don't need an apology, or need to know what happened. I just want to see some kind of... change. He can't keep going like he was. Something wasn't right. He felt like he had to project this image that was apparently totally wrong. Does he still? That's what Ii want to know.
2 questions I would ask him. Did your father know what you were doing? And, will winning tournaments and millions of dollars be enough now that you won't have the porn stars and coffee shop waitresses and star-f**kers?
Welcome back Tiger. I kinda hope you never win another tournament again.

See, now that's just a bad way to look at it right there.

Why? Here he is, Athlete of the decade, unequaled success, a bilion dollars. But evidently he cannot find any peace or feel comfortable in his success, and that he has to convince everyone in the world that he is the perfect golf nerd. So that esape is gone for him now, unless he chooses to divorce his wife, which he won't.
One thing everyone is taking for granted here is that he will come back and win again. He didn't cope too well last year, and he won 7 times! How would he be if he never won again?
What I'm saying is that the one thing that has always been there is his golf game, and if that goes, what has he got? How would he react? Not well, I'm guessing.

I think most people realize the odds of him never winning again are about the same as the odds of you winning the professional Grand Slam. This year.

I don't expect to learn anything new from his presser tomorrow, other than what his future holds on tour. I certainly couldn't care less about the issues he's dealing with personally. I just want to know when I can start watching golf again...

    • It sucks to carry around a lot of water, but ideally it should be way more than we think.  I buy those gallon jugs of water and hang them from my pushcart when I walk. I agree with the electrolytes as well. You don't just sweat out water, but you lose electrolytes as well.
    • A 2010 study from the Journal of Strength & Conditioning Research compares the effects of different pre-round stretch routines for competitive golfers. Active Dynamic Warm-up: Swing Medicus driver, hit 3 shots each with selected clubs. Passive Static Stretches: Various athletic stretches such as hamstrings, chest stretch and reverse trunk twist. The subjects were collegiate golfers with a HDCP index of 5 or less who engaged regularly in strength and fitness routines. All golfers had two test days: one with active dynamic (AD) warmup, a second with AD followed by static stretches (SS). The results were then compared, within golfers and across golfers. For performance testing after the warmups, golfers hit three driver shots at time 0, 15, 30 and 45 minutes after the warmup. The study shows that static stretch formats produced poorer performance outcomes in the four measures shown in Table 5, which shows Time Zero results. The performance deficits under the PSS protocol decreased over time. Some suggestions on why the passive protocol was tied to lower performance than the active protocol: The passive stretches routine induced excessive range of motion,  basically producing wobbles in the golf swing. Other research indicates that the stretching produced slack in the tendons, lessening the amount of muscle force that could be transferred into the shot. One caveat: The study had good scientific controls and balancing of treatments (test routines). This was, however, an exploratory study and raises as many questions as it answers. Also, although the study was done back in 2010, it is still cited as a primary work in recent reviews. A quick online search did not reveal any follow-ups on the study. For those interested, the study PDF is below. PassiveStretchGOLF.pdf
    • I have trouble with vertigo on occasion, but have gotten nutritional and biofeedback tips to keep it at bay. Dehydration can help trigger v-like symptoms so one recommendation, along with maintaining overall hydration, is to start with 8 oz. of water early in the morning. A meta-analysis on Golf As Physical Activity indicated that golf is rated as a moderately intensive physical activity. This scientific literature review came from the University of Edinburgh. The physical activity level ties into hydration. A former university colleague was a marathon runner who had published a couple of articles on endurance training. He likewise said that golf was a moderate physical activity especially when the round stretched past  the two-hour mark. For hydration he recommended switching from water to electrolyte drink on the back nine (past two hour point of exercise) to prevent cramping. At the two-hour point of moderate activity, water starts flushing electrolytes out of the body, which can lead to fatigue and cramping. (I have had trouble with leg cramps in the past during exertion.) During a round, I start out with water on the front nine and switch to sports drink on the back nine. If the day is unusually hot, I may drink 8 oz. of Pedialite concentrate before going to the course. Maintaining overall hydration plus on-course boosters keeps me going.
    • Personally I’d try booking direct first - either via the Vidanta golf reservations number/email or through the resort concierge - especially for Christmas/New Year. Vidanta’s main courses (Greg Norman and Nicklaus designs) are popular and can book out fast this time of year, so direct often gives you the best shot at your preferred tee times.
