I continue to question the proper position of my lead hand thumb (Im a lefty so its my right hand)

Should the thumb be bent or strait? should the V formed by my thumb and index finger be wide or narrow?

I understand a strong and weak grip but you can do either of those with muliple thumb positions. Any thoughts?

Depends who you ask. I prefer a slightly wider V, and put my thumb more under my other (right) hand. Some people (Ledbetter I believe is one) prefer a narrower V. I believe a narrower V increases draw, and vice versa.

I kind of like how Nicklaus describes it. He emphasizes "natural" without any technical speak of the V position.
A) (Righties) Keep the club on your left side.
B) grab the club with your lead hand as it hangs naturally at your side.
C) Place your non-lead hand comfortably facing the palm of the lead hand in an interlock, overlap or 10 finger grip position (whichever the player is most comfortable with).
I personally tuck my lead (left) thumb under my right pinky as a modified interlock grip. I broke my lead wrist when I was younger and this feels the most comfortable to me now.

I find this to be a very good question too ... When I 1st started playing I went by Harvey Penick's teaching, with the lead thumb slightly to the side of the shaft and Not directly down the middle ... however I see a lot of good players with their thumb right down the middle of the grip.
As for the V - I keep mine pretty tight.

Look at the way a pro puts that dominant side hand (left hand, for you) on the club and you'll find there is no gap between the hand and the thumb as far up as the joint just below the thumbnail. From there, the tip of the thumb just rests on the club. So I guess you could say the V is narrow. Hogan suggests you press the thumb and hand together tightly, but that introduces tension, so I just let them rest together naturally.
