Late last year, I stepped on my gap wedge (Adams cheep-o) and bent the shaft while stepping back to line up a putt. Since I was considering an upgrade anyway and the cost to repair is half the cost of a new one...

I read a promising review of the TMade wedges on here, so I headed off to Dicks to try one out. I hit several dozen shots with it, a Cleveland CG12, and a Nike SV Tour just for comparison. The one that felt the best was the Nike. Unfortunately, the launch monitor did not register most of the shots, so I have no data to back up my experience. I know that Vokey's are all the rage and I have not ruled them out, but was pleasantly surprised with the Nike Wedge. Thoughts.

I play the Nike SV tour wedges and absolutely love them. They feel great for me. I never played any of those mentioned wedges so i cant compare those.

I'd say you buy what felt right ...if the Nike felt the best to you, then why not go with that?? I think either way you cant go wrong, they're all good wedges. I have tried a bunch of wedges in the past and for some reason my go to wedge is always my Pure Spin 56 ... It's the cheapest wedge I have ever bought($14 ebay) but I know i can put the ball where it needs to be with it, so I have stuck to it for the past 4 years.
It's not about the brand..it's about what feels good in your hands and how well you can hit it.

P.S.
you gonna sell the head of the Adams wedge?

Just purchased a 52 and 56 SV wedge. I tried out quite a few and these felt great. Might consider the 60 degree later in the summer. Buy what feels good and you will have confidence in.

I'm still playing with it till I'm comfortable with a new one, but once my inner demons are satisfied with the new club and whatever sacrifices I make... I have no problem letting it go.

If I were in the market for new wedges, the Nike SV would be near the top of a very short list.

One other thing to consider when buying wedges this year is the grooves -- if you think they make a difference for your game. Not because of rules directly, but because one type of grooves will be tough to find next year. If I were buying a new wedge this year, I'd probably make sure it's conforming to the new rules, just to avoid ever getting used to the "old" grooves (I doubt my form is good enough to matter, but just in case). Your performance and preference may vary on this count.

I found some slightly used Nike V Red wedges (52, 56, and 60) for $35 ea. My friend has worked with this guy before and vouches for him. Anyone have experience with this series?

Those are some great wedges too! Call me crazy, but I have played Titleist, Cleveland, Nike and Taylor Made wedges and they ALL felt great! This go around, I've decided to go back to the Cleveland's.

My buddy games em...loves em. (he's brand biased tho so there's a variable in there)...I hit his 56 and must say i thought it was a solid club too.

i've used the nike SV wedges, 56 and 60, for around 3yrs. i think they're unmatched in feel. i have a friend who plays cleveland wedges so i swing those every once in awhile and my nike's just have a better overall feel. i'm always glad i choose them over the competition.

that being said, i'm thinking of buying the mizuno mp T10 black satin 52* wedge, it looks great at address and if it feels good on the swing then it's going in the bag.

go with what feels right, you'll never go wrong.

I actually just bought a 60* on ebay and it should be coming this tuesday. I'm excited to try it out eventually because i've just been playing a cheap Niklaus 60* i bought on clearance from work that I don't think works too well, but I've also had it for 2 years and it probably got a brutal treatment lol, I take much better care of my clubs now. Either way I read good things about them and I figure 45 bucks isn't that much of a waste if I don't like it.

I'll second and third the recommendations that you go with what feels right. Not a Nike fan personally but hey...if you look down and like what you see then you're half way there.

With that said, there may be differences in the bounce between the models your looking at. That might be something to consider....

IMO at address the SV's look identical to a Vokey
different weight for me though

I was going to get these when i retired my vokeys
picked up some Callaway X-Tour Vintages instead
once you go forged you wont go back!

and they were oly $88 each brand new

I love mine. When I bought them, I chose the SV Tours over Vokeys because I preferred the S400 shafts and the Vokeys weren't offered in black. The look at address and feel was almost identical...if I remember correctly, the SV Tours and Vokeys are both crafted from 8620 carbon steel.

I tested out the SV Tour 50* and 52* around Thanksgiving. Both felt good, but the head felt a little light for me. Got the CG14 instead. That said, I think the SV wedges would serve many golfers quite well.

My guess is the SV Tour would probably have an effective bounce that's less than rated bounce, since the sole is fairly thin. The SVs I hit came with a DG S400 shaft (a little on the heavy side). But, it went through ball crisply.

Focus, connect and follow through!

    • I haven’t really filmed in a while. Starting to feel like my body is close to being at full strength again, but I am also 65! I played a few round and my distance is down as expected. Here are a 6 iron and driver swing. My grip is a bit weak in these so I’ve focused on that the last few days. I went over my Erie notes. I’m trying to swing down from the top and not out. I want my weight to start shifting forward at about P3. And I want to push my left hip back in the downswing, which I was not successful in these swings. Ball flight has been pushes or pull draws with the irons and fades with the driver. Looking at these swings I can see why. I just need to change the picture.
    • I flipped the video above but here it is again so you see the flipped version, too.
    • Things can go awry quickly on that hole.
    • I have played that course a lot. Mostly scrambles/outings. I enjoyed the read and could picture each hole and got nervous thinking about number 5. That hole is scary. 200 yard layup off the tee?
    • Even though you didn't score well, take solice in the fact you hit the longest drive of the year! 😏 I enjoy following your rounds and can imagine the scenario.   Thanks for sharing
