Keep them in the bag until you have a chance to get comfy with them at the range.

Do you really take much of a divot with your long irons from a good lie? I can see a British Open type divot - bits of grass flying - but not a real divot. With hybrids, I think it depends on the sharpness of the leading edge.

Never thought about hitting them like an iron. Hmmm might be the reason for my incosistant play with the hybrid. I have to try this out at the range this week.
Thanks

You're right, it would be a "British Open" style divot, basically just removing grass and a few specs of dirt.

I'll add one more voice to two themes expressed here. Hit them like irons (after all, they're called hybrid irons), and just put an easy swing the club and stay out of its way. The head is heavier so you don't have to do the same work with it that you would with a long iron.

I can't hit my 3-wood for anything!

That's why it's my garage and not my bag.

I play what I can hit - it's a lot more fun.

I hit my 5 wood about 220 and my 7 wood about 200 yards. Hybrids are suppose to be easier to hit. you could try practicing with the hybrids until you can hit them or go out and buy a 7 or 5 wood.

Hybrid problems might also mean fairway wood problems as well. I would stick with your hybrids and learn to hit them, If you are topping the ball with your hybrids, it could be as simple as ball position. Try the ball further back in your stance and focus on solid contact then work on direction.

One drill that might help you is to practice hitting the hybrid with your feet together. This will help your back swing to prevent you from swaying and changing the lowest part of your swing back and behind the ball.

My friend once said, don't be afraid to hit any club in your bag, including your hybrid.
