I am looking at buying an Odyssey Long Putter off of craigslist, but I was wondering what length I should definitely have. I am 6'2 and weigh 200 lbs. If it is too short I am not going to be able to buy it. Any inofrmation would be greatly appreciated!

Sounds like you should be using a 35" But you can easily have an extension put on...

...Just last week I got a great deal on a 34" Scotty Cameron, so I bought it, and had it extended to 35" a few hours later. The next day, a 1" extension, a new Scotty Pistol Grip, and voila a sweet 35" Scotty with the heavier weighting of a 34"

If it is a good deal, pick it up.

Good luck!

edit: Just reread to see that you are going with a "long putter" which I assume means waist or chest putter length putter. So disregard my post. Sorry...

Dude really you should go to your pro shop and try one.....these are really hard to guesstimate, as some people play of their chest, others of their belly button...is what you fell more comfortable with.

I've played with a range of putter from 33 to 36, until I finally settled on 34". but depending on the weight of the putter i can easily go to 33 or 35....like I said test a few and get a feel for it.

Ok i am sorry that I did not get more specific. It is a LONG PUTTER. I can't buy it if it is too short for me. The seller says it is 48 or 50 inches. Does anyone with experience with a long putter know if that will be Long enough for a 6'2 person.

That's a Belly Putter not a regular "type" putter. I'm 6'6" and use a 35" putter with no problems.

Man these things are crazy expensive....$299!!!!! I went to GG last night (instead of the Irish pub across the street) and tried out a 2-ball long putter...I actually like the feel, but seem very heavy. The one I tried was a standard belly putter (44" I think) and it fit well for me, but I'm 5' 11" on a good day ;)

Hope that helps

In general, the putter should simply be an extension of your hands when you take your normal putting stance. Most putters are too long and cause people to stand too upright - but to each his own, as Ray Floyd is a great putter and uses I think a 36".

I'm 5'10" and have a 34" Scotty and I choke down maybe an inch which gives me a little more control, I feel.

Ernie Els is 6'4" and has resently started using a 35.5 putter so it's what works best for you. I'm 5'11" and have a 34" putter myself.

Again there is no way for anyone to answer this. There are so many variables that play into it. Why not try it out first? If you can't try that exact one, go to a golf store and try some different lengths

Body types even among those who are 6'2 vary far to much for a uniform length to work for each height. If your height is in your legs then you need a long putter to get to your belly, if it is in you torso and you have short legs the putter could be shorter

jesus no one's answering this guys ACTUAL question. people he's not talking about a damn regular length (33-36in) putter. Termduke...best thing you can do to determine if it's long enough for you is to grab two yard sticks (this sounds a bit ridiculous but works) and tape them together so that they are combined the complete length of the club you're looking at on craigslist, and hold it as you would your putter...if the LENGTH feels comfortable and that's all yo'ure going on as your buying decision, then you've solved your problem. I wish you luck.

I really thought the advice of letting Jesus know what was happening and seeking His opinion was good advice also.

    • I don’t measure my intake either. I generally have a black coffee, a bottle of soda, some sweet tea at home, and anything in between is water. An ice cold bottle of water is one of my favorite things. It feels like an immediate refresher for my body. I’ll admit that I need to drink a little more though.
    • For such a nice membership, there have been some bad incidents in the past few years.  We had someone voted out a couple of years ago over something he did and he harassed the board members for three months until he moved out of the area.   Generally they’ve tried to do things like tournament handicaps and identify certain people who they know should be lower and adjust it somehow.  I can understand not wanting to go thru something like the guy who was voted out again i emailed the pro who forwarded it to the handicap committee.  They are going to see what can be done.  I walked someone thru what happened and they are going to nudge him to post the score from the match and see what he does.  Since he didn’t put anything in the electronic scoring past 13, based on how he played 14 and 15 plus having to take bogey on 16-18 for after he left, he should post 83.  We’ll see if it’s even higher,   Since he was really even thru 13, then doubled 14 and parred 15 my guess is he really shot 75 being generous and giving him 2 pars and a bogey on the three holes he didn’t play.    i shot 88, getting 16 shots for my course handicap which is net even and I lost on 13.  We do brackets where handicaps should be within 4-5 of each other.  Most matches only have 1-2 shots as a difference between players  neither of us posted the score yet.  There was something in the match play rules about whether or not to post your score.  I couldn’t remember if we were supposed to or not.  I don’t think he was going to post that, because even with his inflated score it would be the lowest score in his recent 20. Lucky I didn’t because they want to see what he does post and they don’t want me posting so he can try to calibrate his score.
