I am officially a "Mizunoite". I just came back from a fitting where I bought a set of MX-200s. I hit some I15s too. But they don't compare. Now I know what you all mean when you say they are "smooth as butter". I also hit, and wanted, the MX-300s, but they weren't forgiving enough for my screwed up swing. I need the lightest shaft available. What a difference though, compared to my old irons. Especially since I needed 1.25" longer, everything, from my setup to making contact with the ball felt sweet! I picked up the 5 - gap, since I already have my 3 and 4 hybrids. And since I went forged, I also picked up Mizuno forged black wedges. The 56 bent down to 55 degrees and 60 bent down to 58, both to give me an average bounce. He said if I went with their true 55 and 58, their would have been too much bounce, since they don't make many choices. My swing is so screwed up from playing short clubs all my life, this will be some help in time. And since was fitted, I get a free lesson from their PGA insructor. So when I pick up my clubs, hopefully next weekend, I will take a lesson, then more during the year. I am so excited!!!!! With the weather here finally decent, I cant wait to play with my new sticks.

Congrats and welcome to the club!! I was in the same boat. NEVER did I think that I would own forged clubs or Mizuno for that matter. After one session with the fitter, I picked up my jaw from the ground and got me some MP57's. Those 200's and 30's are VERY nice. The 200's will be great for you because they will be good now and good down the road when you get thing rolling.

Now make sure you change the "MX-300" to "MX-200" in your signature!!

I didn't know there was a such thing as too much bounce.

Either way, welcome to the club/addiction. =)

Oops! Thanks. The only thing I don't care for is the blue badging. As I've said in other threads, I love the traditional looks: MP line, Titleist CBs, KZGs, and even the AP1s. And the MX-300. But these are what I am fitted for. It will help my game and obviously make my game more enjoyable. So I will get used to the them. Besides, I have a blue laptop, will be hopefully getting a blue X-Terra. I love the ocean, especially the Pacific, around the Hawaiian islands. So the blue will remind me of paradise.

My goodness, those look nice. If I were to adopt a long iron from an MX set, I'd do that too.

I had to look them up to see the difference - brilliant!

I'm a blade ho, but I'd use those badgeless MX200s in a heartbeat!

did you test out any other brands? or just the mx-200 and 300s? How do Ping G15 irons compare to the mx-200s?

As I said, I did try the Ping I15 irons. I liked their looks and they felt very good. But they did not compare to the Mizzies. And they were not forgiving enough for me. And since I fell in love with the forged feeling, I did not even think about the
G15s. Not to mention I do not like the looks of the G15s. But as I've said in past threads, this is a personal opinion.

I know how you feel, i just went to MP57s after years of pings and I couldn't be more impressed. I was so impressed in fact, that I bought Mizuno wedges as well. This is going to be a fun year.

I am in the clkub now too! Just went to my club and the Mizuno rep was there. Gave me a complete fitting and ordered a set of MP52's and 3 MT-10 wedges. The shaft optimizer is really incredible. The ability to see different shafts with same exact head with vastly different ball flight. I dont know how it would be best for anyone to buy off the rack. Can't wait.

    • It may not have been block practice, though, is one of the main points here. You may have been serving and from the same place, but you were likely trying to do slightly different things. It seems that would only be blocked practice if you were trying to hit the same exact ball hit to you to the same exact place in the far court. I'm not sure that's as random as if the ball that you're given to hit is at different places, too, but again…
    • I played tennis in college. I thought block practice was great for serves because you were starting the point and  you could easily adjust where you wanted to place the ball based off the same motion. I equate those to tee balls. I despised block practice for groundstrokes once you reached a certain level and your fundamentals were good. To me, hitting a 100 crosscourt backhands in a row was silly because I would never do that in a match. I needed to randomize it by hitting some deep, some angled, all with different speeds and spins. I share that same thought about iron play. Because we seldom hit the same approach shots hole after hole, I prefer to practice irons randomly.
