While browsing the golf warehouse site, I noticed nike victory red hybrids are available in a one (15 degree) hybrid. This is the first 1 hybrid I've seen and I'm curious if anyone has hit one. I love my 4 and 5 hybrid and I'm looking to ditch my 3 and 5 wood (which are old anyways) and grab a 3 hybrid and a 4 wood. But, a 15 degree hybrid might be a better replacement for the 3 wood.

I don't dislike my woods off the tee, but off the turf they can't touch the hybrids for me.

I play a 15.5 degree hybrid and really like it. I use it as a replacement 3-wood and while I don't quite get the same distance, I'm much more consistent with it.

I switched from a 3w to a #1 hybrid a couple of months ago and I couldn't be happier. I don't know if it is because of different shaft or what but I haven't lost any distance at all. NOw I', playing a #1, #3 and #4 hbrids and I can say that I'm having excellent results.

The professional I take lessons from has a 1-hybrid instead of a fairway wood: he uses it instead of 3-wood off the tee. I've hit it a few times at the range, but between his higher swing speed and the low loft of the club, I can't do much with it. The one good shot I had felt great, though.

His is a Cobra something or another. Baffler Pro I think.

I have considered one. Might replace my Burner 3-wood with one at some point this summer depending on how well I hit the Burner. Got it as a gift and still brand new. Will give it some range time and see how I like it.

I have a 15* hybrid (Ping G10) that replaced my 3 wood (Titleist 906F2). I like it because it has more of an iron-like feel to it as opposed to a fairway wood. The only reason I ever used my old 3 wood was for holes I need consistency off the tee; I never used it to go for par 5's in two or to fill a yardage gap. To me, the hybrid feels much more consistent and gives me more confidence.

I carry a 16 degree to replace 3 and 5 woods and then a 22 degree to replace 3 iron. I get much better results from 16*, may not be as long as a three wood, but when you can only hit a three wood off the deck good once out of every four tries, distance doesn't matter when comparing.

I recently put a 2 hybrid *17 degrees* in the bag at the expense of my LW.

I use the 2 hybrid more in a round than I do my 3 wood. Much easier to control, more versatile. It's only about 20 yards shorter than my 3 wood, but much more consistent.

I'd go to a 1H/15 or 15.5 degree loft club in a second because it's so easy to make quality contact, but there are times I need to work the ball off the tee or from the fairway...and the 3 wood is infinitely easier to work than the 2 h. The 2h is a great club to blast it out of the rough on a par 5, and also doesn't give me the roll-out of a fairway wood which I like, because I can go aggressively at a pin that's 225-230ish instead of play some half-assed high cut 3 wood to that distance and hope I don't mishit it awfully which I usually will, trying to pull a shot like that off.

My advice would be to get a 2H in your bag which is basically a 4 or 5 wood anyway (depending on the loft of different brands).

When I was getting my swing back I played a Nicket 14* hybrid. Then I learned how to hit my fairway metals and long irons and the Nicket lost its place in the bag.

14* is the lowest hybrid head I've ever seen.

    • _sigh_ so close to red text.  Went away for three days, but didn't do a practice morning-of-departure (Friday) nor evening-of-return (Sunday), so I had three misses, back to day one. Day 1, May 4 2026.  At home today, spent nearly an hour in my practice room, hitting about three dozen practice balls, primarily with my 6-iron.
    • Day 254 5-4 Arms off chest in backswing and downswing. Short swing, pause and then hit.  Hit foam balls. Keeping arching of wrist a focus as well.
    • I would think of it in terms of time. The time it takes to get the arm angle into a good position to deliver the club with proper shaft lean. Another component is rotation, but that is also a matter of timing. It relates to how the body stalls to give the golfer time to hit the ball. If you have to get 80+ degrees out of that right elbow in one third of a second versus 50 degrees in the same time then you have to steal time from somewhere. It is usually body rotation. That does not help with shaft lean.  I agree in that amateurs tend to make the swing more complicated than pro golfers.
    • I haven't been able to practice like I wanted and won't for the next week.  1. The weather sucks in Ohio this year. I have been mostly inside hitting foam balls. Just kind of my basic stuff.  2. I woke up last Saturday with a left side rib muscle on fire. If I turned or leaned a certain way it would spasm that almost buckled my knees. I have been taking a break to let that settle. I don't want to get a long term injury. I think I pinched a nerve or just aggravated a muscles.   3. I am going on a mini-vacation to Florida (screw you Ohio weather) with a friend, and rolling that into a work conference I have next week. I will be with out my clubs for a week.  I will be back next in two Fridays to hit the ground running with some warmer temps and better weather in Ohio, hopefully. I would really like to get more out on the course and the range.
    • Day 580 - 2026-05-04 Played eight holes. Sometimes golf kicks you in the nuts. 😉
