I have a theory about this... I think that men under 6 feet tall tend to look better on camera when performing dance moves and singing. I think if someone 6-4 tried to dance like Usher, even if he did all the moves correctly he would still look awkward when compared to a guy under 6 feet.

That's not the reason. You can't have a tall person and short person together on screen, because you can't fit both of them in a close-up shot. Tall actresses have long shelf lives as romantic comedy leads, because producers then have more flexibility casting their male counterparts: that's why Meg Ryan's (5'8") career lasted so long, why Sandra Bullock and Julia Roberts (5'8" and 5'9") can still pick their roles in their 40s, and why Katherine Heigl (5'9") can get away with being a head case for another decade. The Amy Adamses and Reese Witherspoons of the world need short leading men, or else the top of his head is always being chopped off.
