I admire any professional whose swing appears effortless. The Frenchman, Raphael Jacquelin, may have the easiest swing of them all.

I like Vijay, Goosen, Sim, Scott and Els.

Yeah your right Shorty. Look at Arnie and Trevino....They won their fair share of major's with a not so pretty swing. It's not the look but the finish.

AK's swing. I started out looking at it to work on my own swing because of similar tempo and body types. Now I think it is just amazing for its athleticism and simplicity. And the sound at impact is music.

Fred of course.

I was about 8 feet from him and watched him hit that 3 wood he got from Watson off a bare and almost muddy lie. The ball went about 260 and the ground looked as if you had lightly smudged it with your thumb.

Also Crenshaw in his prime, Els, DLIII, Payne Stewart.

Fred of course.

Crenshaw got loosey goosey sometimes, but oh that putting stroke!

Payne's goofy attire overshadowed his actual game - that dude could play!!

Yes, Ben Crenshaw was a little inaccurate with his swing. His right knee would, on occasion, turn to his right on the backswing. He might hit 9 or 10 greens and still shoot 5 or 6 under. If he had Kite's accuracy with his own short game, he could have been not just great, he would have dominanted his era. He was the only golfer I ever saw who really seemed not to fear hitting a putt well past the hole, because he thought he would always make the next one -- and he usually did. His swing got a lot better wtih age as he tightened up his move. Kite was a workaholic who emulated Ben Hogan's practice routine. Crenshaw was a natural athlete who could shoot a great score no matter how he hit the ball -- very different types of players, both really special golfers. But not even Ben would claim his swing was his best asset. JMHO.

Bubba Watson. How the hell does he do that?

He plays left-handed.

For me: Els. He has the rhythm, he got the style. Freddie Couples has the rhythm too but he takes it up so high on the backswing...I daren't watch too much from the in-line camera or I'll end up doing it myself and either slicing it or chunking it.

I have always liked the way Ernie Els has swung the golf club. He makes it look almost effortless and I could only dream of having his unparalled tempo..........

I am a fan of his swing, also. Fred Couples has a great swing, too.

    • Day 27 (7 Dec 25) - Got in a few swings with 9i and hard foam balls in backyard.  Setup weight fwd (rebuilt left foot really lets me feel the weight in a slightly painful way) - kept the backswing to around 9 o’clock focusing on contact and resulting divot pattern.  Like how the hard foam balls come off the face (almost like real balls in sound).  A good abbreviated session as I only able to hit about a dozen balls in the fading light.
    • Day 117 12-7 A bit of chipping practice today. Full swing- hit some real balls to see where Im at.
    • Not the part I was replying to: Handicaps did not go down much (like 0.14 on average IIRC?) when we went from 10/20*0.96 to 8/20. And a good chunk of that was from the +s.
    • I think he meant in the UK. The old system was completely different from the new one. 10/20 x 0.96 vs 8/20 would really only impact very low handicaps I think. The 0.96 serves to increase differentials for plus differentials, where 8/20 vs 10/20 works to lower differentials for all. I don't know many plus golfers who would be upset that their index got lower. A lot of really good players don't even really keep their handicaps up-to-date. They're much more interested in their WAGR rankings which get them entries to certain events.
    • Day 433 - 2025-12-07 Got some work in after Junior Elite before a night of sports (and the return of my wife!). Backswing work. Similar to what a lot of my juniors are doing.
