This is the type of guy who thinks everyone who crosses a U.S. border must learn to speak

American English first. Let me guess, you dip your fries in ranch dressing too? Hillary Clinton on a golf course is what everyone would consider women respecting "the game". Have fun watching FOX news!

I don't have the numbers, but my issue is more with Michelle Wie than Lorena Ochoa. Ochoa would wax the floor with Wie, yet Michelle has probably made a ton more with endorsements and whatnot. Wie was given everything, never had to earn it. Obviously she put in a lot of hard work, but she played in a PGA event before she even won a LPGA event. Ochoa has made plenty of money golfing, but deserves more respect than she gets.

That's the only thing that is keeping the LPGA's head above water.

Hate to be sexist but the LPGA needs hot chicks who can play golf. Like Tennis has with Sharapova, Ivanovic, etc. Just speaking the truth.

Golf skirts are so damn sexy with athletic legs. Michelle Wie looks amazing in a skirt, as much as I dislike everything else about her besides her ability to play golf.

Sorry, but at the moment the LPGA is a joke.
You got all those asian no names to us, who clean up the tour without much of competion. Did you ever followed the LGPA website when some of the asian players are in the lead - the LPGA media department seems to always look for american or european players to write up some nice story line about them instead of focusing on the leader - it seems even they are fed up with their current situation.

Then you have Michelle "spoiled lying brat - having no clue about golf rules" Wie, who got money shoved up her a... without achieving anything major at that point (thats a career starter....), and if they wouldnt wear those short skirts & shorts most of us who actually watch the LPGA from time to time wouldnt even bother.
Their tournament schedule looks like swiss cheese, so nothing you can really count on. And overall, their way of play is just soooooo boring - nobody cares if you stiff your 7wood from 180 and make the birdie - seriously.....

LOL Speaking of your 3 sisters and mom, do they dress like a PGA professional everytime they step on the course? Do they shop in the mens department for golf slacks and a polo shirt? Do they hit from the mens tees and use mens clubs? Maybe the men are doing it wrong. Technically speaking golf was started wearing skirts(kilts).

Seriously... so they like to look GOOD and feel comfortable on the course.

I'm the father of 2 little girls. After watching the LPGA for the last few years, I can truthfully say I'd have NO issues with them wearing what the LPGA golfers do. I'd much rather them dress like that than say... Britney Spears or Paris Hilton. CY

Professional womans sport is more pornography than competition. Always has been, always will be. The michelle wies and natile gulbis types will always recieve the lions share of attention. Womans sport is sex apeal, nothing more. So that said, the ladies on tour have to sexify themselves as much as they can without being trashy. It may not be right, but its good for their bussiness if they do. I have no doubt that there are many people love womans golf for what it is, but in reality most just want to see pretty girls in short skirts. Thats why the koren dominance of the womans game hurts the bussiness. Not because they are not attractive, but because they are plain and interchangeable in regards to the american audience. If south korea was producing a bunch of Lucy Liu's in golf spikes, the LPGA would be a muliti-billon dollar bussiness, lol. It probably wouldnt even matter if they could break 75.

Wrong country, guy. Lucy was born to Chinese immigrants in Queens, NY.. check her site.

www.imdb.com/name/nm0005154/ LPGA players make decent money, just not as much as the guys. Plus, LPGA tour pros could beat 95% of the guys on this blog in head-to-head competition. Besides the women's tour, the LPGA grooms a lot of excellent teaching pros who help grow the game.

It doesnt matter where lucy liu is from, i was just illustrating a point. Most guys (the primarly consumer of womans sport) dont care about the validity of the sport. Im saying if the ladies are not attractive, the LPGA will suffer as a bussiness. It doesnt matter how skilled they are.

The LPGA was popular pre-Tiger Woods. It wasn't about aesthetics in the 80s and 90s - nothing about Betsy King, Beth Daniel, Amy Alcott, Nancy Lopez(at that point in her career), Laura Davies, Meg Mallon, Annika Sorenstam, Pat Bradley, Patty Sheehan, etc screams $ex-appeal.

There were some remotely attractive ladies who were popular (Kelli Robbins, Lauri Merten, Helen Alfredsson) but lookswise, not even close to the athletes putting out calendars from various Olympics sports, like track, soccer and volleyball, or even WTA Tennis, .

I know this isn't the topic, but there's only so much time that television networks and the golfing public can devote to golf - Tiger eats up so much there's not much left for the LPGA. They're not the only ones that suffer - when is the last time you saw a nationally televised amateur event? They use to be on quite often - now I couldn't tell you who wins the US or British amateur championship until I see the pairings for the Masters.

Fewer women are golfing now and new course designs aren't helping. Newer courses are rarely constructed with shorter hitters in mind - women, juniors, and seniors. Set-ups like Bandon Dunes are great - for avid golfers who are most likely men. I never see Golf For Women on the newsstand either - do they even still publish it?

It's not a joke. But most golf fans and most golfers are men. So, I wonder, how should they increase ratings in order to increase the rest of the revenue stream? It's not that complicated, most of us would rather watch Mickelson hit a 6 iron off the straw to 5' at the masters, OTOH some may watch (insert the LPGA player that appeals to you) play a few holes. The LPGA just doesn't have the same audience demographics and size as the PGA. TV revenue drives salaries, purses...same goes for all the major sports in the US.

Those comparsions are complete BS since most of us dont have the time on hand or work ethic that professional sports require, to make this comparsion work. But lets face it, the competition in male sports is so much deeper - simply for the fact that there is more money up for grabs.

The one thing the LPGA has going for it now is there is no dominant player(or maybe thats a turnoff). There is no female version of Tiger or Phil that is always in contention. It is somewhat disappointing that the American players arent doing well lately(Paula Creamer, Morgan Pressel, Cristie Kerr, etc). Yes it is nice to see that many of the players are attractive but that shouldnt be the only reason they're there, if they cant win or at least make cuts, you"ll never see them on tv anyway.

    • In terms of ball striking, not really. Ball striking being how good you are at hitting the center of the clubface with the swing path you want and the loft you want to present at impact.  In terms of getting better launch conditions for the current swing you have, it is debatable.  It depends on how you swing and what your current launch conditions are at. These are fine tuning mechanisms not significant changes. They might not even be the correct fine tuning you need. I would go spend the $100 to $150 dollars in getting a club fitting over potentially wasting money on changes that ChatGPT gave you.  New grips are important. Yes, it can affect swing weight, but it is personal preference. Swing weight is just one component.  Overall weight effects the feel. The type of golf shaft effects the feel of the club in the swing. Swing weight effects the feel. You can add so much extra weight to get the swing weight correct and it will feel completely different because the total weight went up. Imagine swinging a 5lb stick versus a 15lb stick. They could be balanced the same (swing weight), but one will take substantially more effort to move.  I would almost say swing weight is an old school way of fitting clubs. Now, with launch monitors, you could just fit the golfer. You could have two golfers with the same swing speed that want completely different swing weight. It is just personal preference. You can only tell that by swinging a golf club.
    • Thanks for the comments. I fully understand that these changes won't make any big difference compared to getting a flawless swing but looking to give myself the best chance of success at where I am and hopefully lessons will improve the swing along the way. Can these changes make minor improvements to ball striking and misses then that's fine. From what I understood about changing the grips, which is to avoid them slipping in warm and humid conditions, is that it will affect the swing weight since midsize are heavier than regular and so therefore adding weight to the club head would be required to avoid a change of feel in the club compared to before?
    • I think part of it is there hasn't been enough conclusive studies specific to golf regarding block studies. Maybe the full swing, you can't study it because it is too complicated and to some degree it will fall into variable or random.
    • Going one step stiffer in the golf shaft, of the same make and model will have minor impact on the launch conditions. It can matter, it is a way to dial in some launch conditions if you are a few hundred RPM off or the angle isn't there. Same with moving weights around. A clubhead weights 200-220 grams. You are shifting a fraction of that to move the CG slightly. It can matter, again its more about fine tuning. As for grip size, this is more personal preference. Grip size doesn't have any impact on the swing out of personal preference.  You are going to spend hundreds of dollars for fine tuning. Which if you want, go for it. I am not sure what your level of play is, or what your goals in golf are.  In the end, the golf swing matters more than the equipment. If you want to go to that level of detail, go find a good golf club fitter. ChatGPT is going to surface scan reddit, golfwrx, and other popular websites for the answers. Basically, it is all opinionated gibberish at this point.
