Roll Tide!! Seriously, it's going to be very tough to repeat after losing 9 starters on defense. However, the offense is loaded and if the defense will come around it is possible. Because I am a homer, I'm going to pick Alabama vs. Ohio State for all the marbles in 2010.

The biggest problem with Bama repeating is 6 of their SEC opponents have BYE WEEKS before they play Bama

I'll agree with you on that one. I went to the A Day game, and the defense held their own, especially the d-line. I think they'll be fine as the season goes on. We have so much depth now that we haven't had in the last 10 years or so, so with a little luck we should be competing for SEC championships and the occasional national championship.

It will be the usual suspects. The BCS is set up to maintain the status quo. Im hoping to see Wisconsin win the Big Ten and make a serious run at a Rose Bowl or better. This is the first season in a while that Bucky will be ranked at the beginning of the season and they look to be a quality team this season.

Come October, we'll be able to tell better. Too many goofy things - upsets and/or system collapses - happen in September/pre-conference. Worrying about this now could eat up enough time to hit a thoughtful, large bucket of practice balls, possibly keep us from lowering our handicaps!

Focus, connect and follow through!

I am just glad the Huskers can actually be mentioned as a possible top ten team and darkhorse contender, it has been to long. If they can get good quarterback play. There is more talent on offense then people realize, but offensive line injuries and quarterback play held them back last year. Texas and maybe Oklahoma could be good as usual in this area.

Gotta go with Ohio State IF Tressel allows them to play the same style of game that they did in the Rose Bowl last year.

Was he holding back Pryor's ability to make plays with his feet? I know VT limited Tyrod Taylor in the running game last year, but expects to open it up this year with more certainty at backup QB.

Honestly, I don't know. Tressel is just... Tressel. He'll give you a game or two where he spreads the field and opens the offense up and you think they can't be beat, but then the next game against a terrible Purdue team, all the do is run the ball up the middle for three plays and then punt leaving fans to wonder what the heck is going on. I think a lot of times last year early in the season, Pryor would have been better off running and not throwing as much. It almost seemed like he was trying to prove to people that he could in fact be a passing quarterback and wasn't just a one dimensional runner.

Another Hokie fan here. Have to love our chances, but I just don't know. Obviously we have a ton of returning starters, but there are a lot of questions. Wang and Render gone so the left side of the line is suspect. RB is stacked for sure, but how much will Evans' return upset the balance? If we can't run the ball, then what, Tyrod still sucks as a QB. I'm a glass half empty guy....not to mention that Worilds was our only legit pass rusher.

I guess we'll find out early versus Boise...I think they're going to be ridiculously good considering they're returning 21/22 or something along those lines.

I'm a Longhorns fan, and I think Texas could potentially make a run, depending on how confident Garrett Gilbert gets during practice and the early season games against scrub opponents. Texas is actually kind of lucky he got a little bit of experience, even though it was during the worst possible game. If you look at the positive, atleast he now knows how bad the pressure can get.

Tyrod Taylor is back, along with Ryan Williams, Darren Evans, and the entire WR unit. On defense we are replacing a few, but we won't see much of a drop off. Bud Foster has said numerous times that he thinks the upside to his 2010 unit is much higher than that of 2009. We will have a lot more speed on the field with our defense this year.

Who does VT have at QB this year? I thought TT was back, but I could be mistaken?

Hokies gotta get past the Broncos in the season opener. They upset the Ducks last year in the season opener and beat TCU in the Fiesta. The defense essentially shut down one of the highest powered offenses in the country in TCU and they have a lot of returning players. Don't underestimate the BSU Broncos.

Whoever came up with the saying, "A bad day of golf is better than a good day at work", is a moron.

    • Has anyone played the new Maxfli forged irons? For the first time in I don't know how many years, they have come out with new clubs. From what I read, Maxfli was bought by Taylor Made a long time ago which then took all of their ball making technology and patents in order to get into that market. The club business was left to whither and the reorganized company, now a part of Dicks / Golfworks / Maltby, is producing these new clubs. (Their Tour X balls which I play are really good.) Anyway, I tried them both out at Golf Galaxy. There's a player's distance iron (XC-3) and a blade (XC-2) and both feel really, really nice, almost "Mizuno-like" in their soft buttery feel and they're a bargain at $800 for a set. I'm planning to ditch my Titleist's and want to go back to a forged iron. I almost pulled the trigger on the Mizuno Pro-245's last summer, but a damaged tendon sheath in my finger combined with a back injury messed up my golf game so I held off. Now the Pro-245's are no longer available, soon to be replaced by the MX-15. (At twice the price of the Maxfli's...that's what got my attention in the first place.) If anyone has played with the new Maxfli's or just tried them out like I did, let me know what you think.
