which is why I'm REALLY in favor of a playoff.

I'm not sure a playoff is the way to go. Of course there are plus sides, but think of the downsides. If you go to a playoff system, I think teams slack off a bit durning the regular season because they know they can lose one or two and still make the playoffs. E.g., the NBA.The way college football is now, every single week you better bring it.

As we saw the other night when 'Bama went down, no one is incapable of losing. So, even with a playoff system, you've got the possibility of the best team being put out early which leaves everyone saying at the end that the best team still didn't win and the team that won got lucky because of their draw, etc. No matter what you do, you'll never please everyone, but at least with the current sytem, we get to see some good football during the regular season with teams knowing that if they lose, their NC hopes are gone. Of course, the other side to that coin, is that with a playoff system and teams knowing they can lose one or two and still make the playoffs, you possibly have teams schedules tougher competition than they do now. Most top teams schedule cupcakes the first half of the season as warm up games they know they can't lose. If they know they can lose and it doesn't matter, we may see some big time schools scheduling each other earlier on.

1) I'm not an pure SEC fan, I prefer LSU myself, since I'm born and bred in Louisiana

I'm so sorry.

2) OSU will probably lose next week

Always a possibility, but we weren't suppose to be able to even hang with Oregon last year either. When we won the nay-sayers were silenced and not one praised the boys for their efforts. A sign of poor sportsmanship came from across the country. We as fans are use to it.

3) A 1 loss SEC champ, 1 loss OSU, 1 loss Oregon, undefeated TCU, undefeated Boise, 1 loss Big 12 champ...who gets in?....

Well, if undefeated Boise deserves a shot than undefeated TCU deserves to be there with them, not a 1 loss team from

any conference. SEC homerism at it's best. If you're going to take a stand for an undefeated team, regardless of how weak they are, take a stand fairly. Don't be wishy washy b/c you want and SEC team there. Neither Boise or TCU deserve a shot with their schedule, but you can't take one without the other.

Not being wishy washy, but you and I know, 2 non-AQ teams will NEVER play for the gold. I 'say' is more of a reference to a predictor, so I should've been more clear. Hell, a 2 loss LSU put a good whuppin on Ohio St. not too long ago in the title game, if I recall (although that was virtually a road game for you guys).

If they don't both deserve it then how can you say one does over the other? That's not very solid ground you're standing on.

Troof on all accounts. I'm tired of our biggest games being in our opponents backyards. Haha.

The only way a playoff system would work in NCAA is shorten the regular season to 8 or less games. You have to remember that this isn't the pro's and football isn't the only thing required of the student athletes. They can't have a 14 game reg season and 4-6 post season.

If they play 11 games and an 8 team playoff, that would work. Even in Louisiana high school football, if you get to "the dome", you'll play 15 ballgames + a preseason jamboree.

15 is easy. 19 is a little harder. Most conferences will have 12 games the way it's headed so for these instances let's assume a 20 game season for the NCG teams. This means, if the tourney started around the time the bowl season does, kids would be getting shipped all over the country for 1-8 weeks missing not only family holidays but who knows how much school.

Say: Team A plays Team B in Atlanta on Dec 17th. Team A wins. Team C plays Team D in Madison on 12/17. Team D wins. Team E plays Team F in Dallas on 12/17. Team E wins. Team G plays Team H in Detroit on 12/17. Team H wins. Team A plays Team D in Columbus on 1/1, taking the next weeks off for the Holidays. Team A wins. Team E plays Team H in TN on 1/1. Team H wins. Team A plays Team H on 1/8 in State College, PA for the NCG. Team A wins it all. Teams A and H played 12 reg seasons games and 3 post season games b/c an 8 team playoff was decided. Sounds awesome, right? What if Team G is undef. TCU and H is undef. Boise State? Team I is a 1 loss LSU, J is a 1 loss Nebraska, K is a 1 loss Texas, L is a 1 loss South Carolina, etc. Teams I-L then campaign for a 16 team playoff system. 8 isn't good enough. The 1 loss SEC teams should have gotten a bid over TCU and so on and so forth. Nothing has been accomplished and college kids have ran all over the country while trying to maintain grades and a family life. This isn't the pro's...and I for one prefer to keep it that way. Ohio State is Team A in this scenario by the way. Why? Because I wrote it and I get to pick.

For the season, they should play 12 games max, which would include any conf. title game. Then for your playoff, 12 teams, conf. champs auto in, unless you have over 2 losses, then you get bumped for the next team in line per the BcS system. The idea of playing 1 round pre-holidays is quite good. Since schools are not in session from mid December to almost mid January (assuming semester setup), limited classes are missed. Max you play 16 games and you get a true champ, b/c this year, I got the feeling that you'll have TCU and Boise undefeated, and a bunch of schools like OU, Neb, OSU, Bama, LSU, S. Car, Ore with an L fighting over who should get what.

Even with that setup people will feel shunned.

Oh well, I'm just gonna enjoy the game.

I'm guessing that wasn't the answer you were looking for.

Thanks to Wisconsin and Texas for helping us stay relevant.

Actually, I have called Wisky and Iowa as being our make or break games all season. Congrats to Bucky. We didn't show up and Wisconsins D was amazing, not to mentioned Clay's ground game.

Now I'm just hoping for 2 things. Another Rose Bowl victory and Boise State to get CRUSHED in the NCG.

And... we're no longer relevant.

I haven't seen an Alabama defense this porous since the Curry days, and at least back then, we put pressure on the quarterback and caused turnovers. Kirby Smart seems almost afraid to do anything out of the box because he doesn't trust the defensive backfield. Mark Barron looks incredibly average without Justin Woodall back there, and Dre Kirkpatrick is still making dumb mistakes and getting caught way out of position. The CBS crew pointed out a stat that really stands out to me... opponents have fumbled thirteen times this season, and we've only recovered two . That is simply inexcusable. Guys don't seem to be playing to the whistle, and it doesn't only show up there, but in missed tackles and blown assignments as well. On third and thirteen, deep in their own territory with two minutes and change, how do you give up a thirty yard to Jared "Pick-Six" Lee?
Seriously?
Bring heat from everywhere and make him throw off his back foot. Don't let him step up in the pocket and break your back. Pitiful.
Auburn scares the bejeesus out of me. Cam Newton is going to run through us like Tijuana water.

I have a ton of friends that are Bama fans (I am a UT fan), so I have had to hear it for the past few years. I get on Facebook and see "Roll Tide" every week and I get the text messages, etc.....

So I have enjoyed this year. I get to talk crap to my buddies now. It's so funny when they win, my Face book is covered up with Bama fans talking crap and RTR, blah blah blah.....but when they lose, these people are no where to be found. I think it's hilarious!!

My Florida fans are much easier to tolerate than my Bama fans.

This is just for my friends though....nothing against anyone other Bama fans.

I was born and raised in Florida, so I have a different perspective on Florida fans. For the most part, they are some of the most obnoxious fans around. They love to strut when they're on top, but they more or less vanish when they're not.

Example: after our loss to LSU, one of my friends from high school (a Gator) posts "Aahhaaahhhaa Bama" on Facebook. We've still lost one less game all season than they did in a row, and you're talking smack? Really? And, they tend to have short memories. They talk about the "tradition" of the Gator Nation, but they conveniently forget that before the 1990s, they were basically Vanderbilt with a Heisman Trophy winner.

I can see that. From my experience, it's opposite. When Bama loses, my friends are gone....no where to be found, have nothing to say, etc....but when they win, look out!!!

My friends that are Florida fans will at least talk to you and say "we sucked here, or didn't play well there" etc.....I guess born and raised in Florida fans are a little more die hard.

Every fan base is like that to some degree. I used to moderate on Tidefans back around the turn of the century (wow that sounds wierd) and there were plenty of folks like that who beat their chests when things are going great but vanish when they're not. I had to chuckle last season, when after the first few weeks of the season, Auburn flags were everywhere. Then, after they had a losing streak of a couple of games, the flags simply vanished.

Then there's the security in numbers thing. There are probably more Alabama fans in Tennessee than there are Florida fans, so they aren't as boisterous and in-your-face about it as Florida fans that are surrounded by other Florida fans. We watched the Florida-Alabama SEC Championship game that Florida won at a (now defunct) sports bar here in Anniston, and before the game there was a pack of Gator fans in there talking a lot of smack before the game. They got really quiet during the game, and some even left, when it didn't look like they were going to win. Now the Auburn fans are beating their chests because they're undefeated, so we'll see how that turns out. Of course, with this whole Cam Newton situation, who knows what'll happen.

Has Florida even been good long enough to have "raised" fans with bragging rights? LOL!

No. Not really. They didn't win a legitimate SEC crown until the 1990s. Everyone else except Vanderbilt had done it, and Vandy had at least won the old Southern Conference (precursor to the SEC) crown. Florida hadn't done jack squat - except cheat - until Spurrier came back.
