Looking to a fairway wood here real soon. Need some recommendations. I need something that is easy to hit off the deck. Let me know what you guys think.
Thx

Well if you want to hit the driver off the deak, your going to be looking for a shallow face club with usually ends up being a tour model.

People may disagree, especially people who have not used shallow have clubs off the deak before. Only thing is with this type of club you mind find it is a little bit harder to hit off the tee due to the shallower face witch usually means not less forgivness.

But a good example of a shallow face club is the Taylormade 08 Burner TP Not the non TP, must be the Tp because the non TP a a very deep face.

Oh also, I perfer the look of a compact 3/5wood, its much eaiser on the eyes when hitting it off the deak.

The 07 & 08 Taylor Made Burners are extremely easy to hit from the ground. Nothing easier.

My current fw woods launch almost as easy from the ground...especially the 5 wood.

I agree with Bonovox, I have a Callaway FT 4 wood (17 deg) and i think it is one of the easiest clubs I have ever hit, in saying that the Ping G10 4 wood was also very good...

im actually looking for a wood as well
have some points to redeem on my credit card

good to hear about the FT tho since thats one of the options
the other ones are:
FT-iZ
R9
Mx-700
909F2/F3

anyone have any experiences with any of those?
btw i have the R5 dual 3 wood and thats impossible to hit off the turf (well at least for me)

I never though i would say that but.... The FT iz is a amazing golf club!

While the taylormade and callaway clubs are nice, I have been an Adams user from the start and I love my Tight Lies GT. Picked it up on ebay for around $30 and it never fails from the tee, fairway or rough. Yea, its not expensive and fancy, but it works and thats all that matters. It wont be leaving my bag for a long time.

Has anyone tried the new Callaway Diablo Edge TOUR 3-wood? (I'm looking a the tour version over the regular version bc i like the traditional look). Or does anyone have any info on them?

so i got a chance to go to the golf shop and hit some clubs, the FT.....FT-iZ.....R9

loooved the FT
felt great and solid off the tee
AND i actually hit some further off the mat than off the tee, which never happens

Since I restarted playing last year I can only comment on the Callaway Diablo. They are easy I can't believe it's me hitting the ball (as compared to my old McGregor Persimmons). Now that Callaway has come out with the Diablo Edge, the old Diablo has been reduced in price.

    • When I got to Florida this season (seasons instead of years since the years overlap) one of the guys asked what I had done, said I was about twenty yards longer with my driver. Said that I had a different driver which was true but looking back it’s really the shaft that’s been the difference. It’s similar in principle to the Autoflex in that it’s light weight and also light flex. Since most of my clubs are bought used I have difficulty finding senior shafts most of the time and being old and slow that’s what I need. Bought the Callaway driver, for several years I preferred Ping drivers, because they only had a couple of used drivers with senior shafts in my price range and it’s been probably the best I’ve had. Longer and very forgiving, decent distance even on my mishits and almost always in play. Keep in mind that my swing speed is probably under 70mph.
    • Day 17 - First round of the year. It took me about 6 holes to remember how to hit off grass. Short game was lacking, but the round could’ve been much worse. It’s nice that my new “bad” is my old “good.”
    • Yes this was what I was thinking you have two golfers same 5 HC same swing speed 110Mph ...one you changed the driver head to a 10yr old model head but the same loft etc the other you changed shaft ...now if its just 10yr old shaft of the same flex weight etc it would be more so the newer head IMHO ..but if the shaft was changed to softer flex lighter than player was use to then the shaft would be the winner IMHO
