So i am set to join a CC on 5/1 but today i recieved an email that the course will be undergoing replacing the greens with brand new bermuitas. I googled approx how long it takes for the process and it looks like it will be 5+ months until new greens are ready to play on. Should I no longer join and forfit my $200 deposit or just stick it out and play temp greens for a few months and suck it up.

Wait until the greens are real. Ask the manager of the CC if you can delay your join date. If they advertised a rate as a GOLF incentive - you have a textbook Bait & Switch - Be nice though, you don't want to be that guy to the established members.

#1. I have heard those greens need replacing so its about time they did it.
#2. Talk with the membership director. You can still play Bloomingdale, but it is going to suck playing "temp" greens. I played Bloomingdale when they were replacing their greens and it was terrible. See if you can put a hold on your membership till Sept or October and then just start then. Tell them you want to be a member, but you want to hold off and save your money until its worth playing there.

the only thing that makes me want to keep it is that it is part of the fl golf trail so it has 13 recpriocal courses and there are three within a 30 min drive that i can still play for free( no cart fee because of green renovation @ current club)

Without this I'd say give it up - but with, pull the trigger.

Are they doing the whole course at once? A local course near me is in the process of replacing their greens and they were only doing 9 at a time so you could still play the other 9 while the work was being done. Might pay to check cause if that's the way they're doing it you'll still be able to get some golf in there.

It depends on how much of a blow it is to your budget. Also, does your membership last one calender year or until the end of 2010? Take that into consideration.

Career Bests:

9 Holes--37 @ The Fairways at Arrowhead-Front(+2)

18 Holes--80 @ Carroll Meadows Golf Course(+9)

Home Course:

1) The Fairways at Arrowhead

2) Mayfair Country Club

IMHO, this makes it worth it......sounds like you have a plan and good options for free.....join up, enjoy the other courses, it will keep you busy until the winter when the greens are done
