Wow. So if isn't Tiger, its Phil? I just don't understand.. what's sad is, it is so prevalent in all aspects of society and has become the norm to be a "hater"

Its not a tiger-phil thing, I've just never liked the guy period. I'd take any of the new guys winning, or seasoned pro's over phil lol. I'd personally like to see Camilo win a major this year, or at least a few more tournaments. On subject though, I hope McIlroy wins a few more this year, or at least 1 more and a good showing at the British Open.

McIlroy crushed 'The Green Mile'.
If I had to pick any hole it would the Par 5 15th: 352yd drive splitting the fairway, 205yd 5-iron in and 3ft putt for eagle....that was perfect golf.

That second shot into 15 was as a pure a golf shot that I've seen in a long time. Even the sound, or complete lack of it, so smooth, and such a perfectly balanced finished.

That 62 was well deserved... I'm sure it's the start of many things to come

Cheers, Allan

I've been waited so long to see new and young players to compete and become dominant figures as Phil & Tiger..and Rory finally did it in a way that no one can ask for more. AK, Vilegas, Fowler, Danny Kim, Ryo Ishikawa, and Rory's talent have been appraised and promised. We all knew they are going to be front runners of game of golf for next decades but couldn't picture one can stand up tall among current big figures like phil & tiger. I only imagined that could happened if those young promising players go into day 4 and competing against Tiger/Phil head to head and crush them in scorecard.

Closest one I can think of is AK vs Tiger at last pair at Congressional last year but gave it away to Tiger. Rory had his chance at this year at Dubai against Westwood to be #1 in European Tour but didn't happen. Finally Rory did it.

Now Rory opened the door for new era of golf and I'm hoping to see many above mentioned young players follow Rory's success. Interesting thing on these youngsters is fact that they can really go low any given day (Rory made 15 under on last 2 days at QH, AK's 65 at Master's, Ishikawa's 58 yesterday). So.. Be aware. it's not 4 under per day over 4 days is the only answer to holding a trophy. we will see a lot of low 60's from these players and change our perception of strategies to win a tournament.

I have to agree, for me the 2nd shot on 15 was amazing.
Well done Rory

What a round of golf!!!!! Wasn't looking at him as a contender Sunday, but man did he put on a show. Glad he got his 1st win over here and hope he continues his winning ways. Golf needs a young man on the leader board more often. Couldn't have happened to a nicer young man!!!

I just watched the end of Rory's fourth round on my DVR. That 50 foot bomb on 18 was never going to miss. Amazing win. Great to see the young guns coming up. I think that we are in for a treat over the next decade with the likes of Rory, Fowler, AK, Camilo, et al.

Great performance and a great guy. He is a confident player but wears his confidence well. I am from Northern Ireland also, and I met Rory at the UK PGA event last year at Wentworth. I spoke to him, and he heard the familiar accent and stopped, and he chatted to me in a relaxed and unhurried way for a few minutes.

Total class act.

No disrespect to the veterans on the leaderboard - Love, Mayfair, McCarron, Cabrerra, etc... but it's nice to see fresh faces winning and younger players on the leaderboard.

    • Depends on the lie, pin location, green.  I would say most of my pitches are with my 60-degree.  Its probably like 90% 60-degree, 10% 56 degree.
    • Depends on my lie and the green I am working with. If I want to fly and stop, my 58* If I am looking for it to run a bit, my 54* And on occasion if the lie and green call for it, punch and run with my 7i
    • I did the RTJ trail, we just did Grand National and Capitol Hill. We were trying to minimize travel time. It gave us 5 courses to play. You pare playing 3 of the 5 we played.  If I had to pick, I would play the Lakes over the Links at Grand National. Links felt too penal on approach shots. If you can't get height or spin, it felt like every ball that hit the center of the green ran off the back. A lot of the greens require force carry, no running it up. It just wasn't that fun to play.   Judge - Really good course, some really cool holes and terrain.   Senator - Really fun open course. They call it link style, I can't remember how much you can play the ball down, but it has the aesthetic appeal.
    • I do that at the range; I just have been going through a half-assed pre-shot routine. 😇 I just kind of waltz up to the ball and hit it. I catch myself just going through the motions of aiming. Once I started aligning my club to an intermediate target, I felt like I was aligned way open to the target but just trusted it. Like, if the club was aimed at the flag in the middle of the green, then my body was aligned left of the green or more (assuming something like a 100+ yard shot). I think I was more concerned with where my feet were lined up and not the clubface.  A question on alignment then.  So, the ball is like what, 3-FT away from the toe target line. So, does that mean if my toe line is aimed at the flag, the club is aimed 3-ft right? Does the perception of the green looking smaller in the distance impact that in terms of how we hit the shot? I feel like the geometry should work that the ball is actually aimed 3-FT right.
