I saw some guy on the course with a remote controlled automatic push cart. Now THAT is embarrassing.

The first time I saw a cart rolling down the middle of the opposite Fairway, I thought someone had forgotten to set the brakes and it was running away. Until I saw the guy walking about 20ft. behind it casually.

I actually think its pretty cool. I mean, think about it: all you have to do is stroll down the fairway while your cart does all the work for you. Its like having a caddy but without the attitude, judgement and sarcasim. Plus, you dont have to tip the cart after your round!

Whats in my :sunmountain: C-130 cart bag?

+1... first time I saw one of those I laughed, then I realized it's kinda like having your own caddie

I never use a cart, always walk with my bag but I accept the fact that when I'm older I will probably use one.

Cheers, Allan

I used to carry until I had a miniscus tear in my knee. Since then I've used a pull cart. Pull carts I have are anywhere from 10-40 years old found at various rummage sales. But just today I came across a Sun Mountain Speed Cart pusher so I'll be using that this summer. Bag is currently a stand bag which is handy for the range. I might keep my eyes open during upcoming city wide rummage sales for a cart bag.

I look at it this way, the pro's get to use a caddy and don't have to carry their own bag so why should I? Plus my caddy costs less than theirs and doesn't eat as much. 8-).

Same here. Ive got too much pride right now to use a cart, but I fully expect that the day will come when I either can afford courses that mandate riding a cart or will finally swallow my pride and use a pull cart. That day is not today though...

Here in Florida right now the courses are dropping their prices and coming up with all kinds of deals to attract golfers to their course. The reason is the heat and humidity from about 11am on through the rest of the day is oppressive. If you can walk and carry a bag while concentrating on the individual shots that's great. However that heat is still taking a toll on you. I say it's smart to give yourself any edge that the
game allows. If that is a caddie you're in great shape, if not the next best thing is a cart, if you can't afford that a trolley is next on the list. I use my Bag Boy, but if I'm going out late with my grandson I'll pop for a cart. In the winter when it's 70 degrees who cares what you do.

It ain't bragging if you can do it.

I've been renting a pull cart at the course here lately because my bag that my beginner's clubs came in is kind of falling apart and not the best for carrying around the course. When I get a proper bag though I will go back to carrying.

Depends, I am 21 so it would be pretty embarrassing using a pull cart, but for the elderly it is ok.

Thank you, but the real reason I still walk and pull a cart is because I'm cheap and that $10-17 I save per round adds up.

Push cart all the way for me. Only for the elderly? You're missing out. And you push it, you don't pull it. Pulling it puts extra strain on your back. Ten years from now, you'll thank me.

Awards, Achievements, and Accolades

I just bought a powakaddy deluxe 3 white bag and its amazing,i already had the trolley(a powakaddy twinline 3 push trolley) i use to put my stand bag on it now and then but obviously the bag didnt fit very well,i was getting a bit of back ache after the round and i found come the 14th/15th id start making bad shots from fatigue, cant wait to try the new bag setup out and see if my fatigue goes away...it can only help...i think push trolley setups look really cool, especially the remote controlled powakaddy's,its nothing to do with pride or age,if you can afford it go for it...

    • Day 542, April 26, 2024 A lesson no-show, no-called (he had the wrong time even though the last text was confirming the time… 😛), so I used 45 minutes or so of that time to get some good work in.
    • Yeah, that. It stands out… because it's so rare. And interest in Caitlin Clark will likely result in a very small bump to the WNBA or something… and then it will go back down to very low viewership numbers. Like it's always had. A small portion, yep. It doesn't help that she lost, either. Girls often don't even want to watch women playing sports. My daughter golfs… I watch more LPGA Tour golf than she does, and it's not even close. I watch more LPGA Tour golf than PGA Tour golf, even. She watches very little of either. It's just the way it is. Yes, it's a bit of a vicious cycle, but… how do you break it? If you invest a ton of money into broadcasting an LPGA Tour event, the same coverage you'd spend on a men's event… you'll lose a ton of money. It'd take decades to build up the interest. Even with interest in the PGA Tour declining.
    • Oh yea, now I remember reading about you on TMZ!
    • Of course there's not a simple or knowable answer here. But the whole Caitlin Clark phenomenon is a nice example IMO. Suddenly there was wall to wall media coverage and national attention and... the women's tournament got similar ratings to the men's and much higher ratings than the men in the final four. With every indication that there will be some portion of the uptick that remains going forward. And there's the whole element that Sue Bird brought up. That basketball needed a pretty enough white superstar guard. One who looks like the "cute little white girls" that describes most of the soccer USWNT that's been able to achieve much higher popularity than any version of women's basketball, which is dominated by black players and none of any race who could be described as little... I do think women's sports are in a good place to start taking off more though. It's really only in the coming 5-10 years that the majority of girls will start to come of age with post Title IX grandmothers (as in their grandmothers were allowed to be serious athletes). I don't follow men's or women's basketball much, but in golf for sure the women's tour has gotten much deeper over the past 20 years and only looks to keep going in that direction. I've heard the same about women's basketball. And the patriarchal attitudes that socialized girls out of sports and everyone out of women's sports fandom aren't gone but have def diminished.
