I've been playing with this for the last week and have to say that for the price (free for the basic app; $1.99 for the full version) it's a really neat little bit of technology.

Basically, it's like V1 lite* for your phone. Lets you shoot, edit and analyze video of your swing right there on the range. Simple to use, hasn't crashed on me so far, I think it's great. The pay version adds the abilities to calculate your tempo, compare two swings side-by-side and export your videos, with drawings and annotations, by email. For example, here's some fool showing us how not to do it at P4. And then we can easily swipe back and see that said fool was actually in pretty good shape at P2, so he should probably think hard about what's happening in that slice of the swing in between.

If you already have an iPhone 3GS and are interested in video feedback on your swing, I would definitely recommend this application. I have no connection to the developers other than having given them $1.99 in change I found under the couch.

(*V1 actually has their own iPhone app out, but it's $10.00 and, judging by the reviews so far, not fully baked.)

Stretch.

I downloaded the swingreader app for my Iphone 3gs about a week ago and used it at the range a couple times this week. I just proped it up on the bag holder and secured it with a rubberband. I really like the app. The ability to record my swing and then slow it down for analysis is great. The app also lets you draw lines for your swing plane or to see if how much you're swaying during your backswing. It really helped me pickout where the flaws in my swing were. I thought my swing was good, after comparing the slowed down version to other swings, I really noticed some things that I need to fix. Now the hard part, actually fixing them. The free version was all I needed. I didn't download the full version. Give it a shot if you're looking for a free app to record your swing with.

I assume you've never used it? I have it as well and it's fantastic for on the range analysis. The frame rate is plenty high to get all the parts of the swing you could want. I haven't had a swing yet where the impact position couldn't be frozen precisely at impact. The drawing feature is great as well.  This is an excellent app and it's cheap as well!

I concur; SwingReader is a great app to get a rough idea on where you're going wrong, however you get a much better idea with a high fps camera (which I don't own).

I also combine SwingReader with a Gorillapod tripod with my iPhone 3GS as it can be attached to pretty much anything (range railings, trolleys, stand bags etc)

This app is now reduced to 99 cents and is a great little tool for the range.  Just videotaping my practice swing in the garage, I found a set-up fault, so it has already paid for itself.  The lines are cool and it is easy to use.

I have had this App for about a week now, I have recorded my daughters swing, as soon as I can work out how to get it on here I'll post it. The app looks great!

Yeah, I got it for my iphone last year. Its great and FREE!

Its true that the fps aren't great but it is free and it does a good enough job that you can easily see your plane and other various checkpoints.

I've recently made great strides in FEELING my swing (thanks to Fred Shoemaker) and now find that I can do most of my work through feel but a good clear video is always nice to visually reconfirm what you think is happening.

*although, as long as the ball is going where I want it to go I don't really give a crap what else is happening:-)

Nice swing I have that app too. You may want to also try iSwing App for golf swing analysis, it has higher FPS rate and has some videos of Adam Scott for side by side comparison.

Jerry/Dan, every post you've made thus far is about that app. We're not fond of spammers so you'd do well to demonstrate that you're not one here pretty soon.
