The Year 2010 is proven rocky for Tiger Wood's career, not only he has to deal with several personal issues, he is now struggling mightily with the game and health issues nowadays. Passing the record of Jack Nicklaus is never a doubt with the way his magical career goes the past years, but with the woes he's in do you think he can still pull it off?

well it sucks for Tiger because this could almost assuredly been penciled in as a multiple major year with St. Andrews and Pebble. St Andrews i think hell still win unless someone who is a bomber like cabrera gets hot.

I still say he gets there. Hes always bounced back from everything.

He may do it, he may not. If he really has a prolapsed disc in his neck I don't think he's in with much chance for the rest of the year do you? It sounds a bit to me as if his body is falling apart; I think longevity is going to be a big thing in whether he tops Jack's record. If he doesn't get it done soon, he may not be up to it physically at all.

It's beyond me why people think (thought?) he was a cert for Pebble. He's rarely been straight enough off the tee and sure as Hell isn't straight enough now.

It depends on his health in the short term. In the long term there is a very small chance he doesnt get it. He's only 34 and still has at least 30-40 attempts left in his prime years.

It depends upon his health. If Tiger can get his mind and body healthy again, he can still catch Jack. He needs to get it together within 3 years though.

Yes he beats Jack. He's 34. He is not a football player...injury???....Child Please......

Only if he self destructs (????) he doesn't beat the record....Who knows with this guy?

I wouldn't say it's a done deal but he's got a lot of good golf left if he pulls it back together. I mean if Kenny Perry and Steve Stricker can revive their careers than I'm pretty sure Tiger can too.

I think he wins a major this year (British Open...or "The Open" to be correct)...these last 4 will take him some time though. Lots of good competition...not gonna be easy, I say 70-30 are his chances of surpassing Jack.

I'm going to say he doesn't win any majors this year he's just got too much on his plate. The neck injury could be serious, haney is out, and depending on what happens with his marriage he could be stuck in the middle of an ugly divorce.

If he beats Jack or not.............He is still the best player of his era. He is a great player period. I only wish he would have had stiffer competition than what he's been up against. His current opposition kinda sux under Tiger pressure.

What does he need, 4 to tie, 5 to pass?

If his back/neck is not too much of a problem, if he doesn't self destruct, if he continues to maintain his fitness,-- he has about 10-12 years. A lot of ifs, but I would say 90% he makes it. Everyone wrote Jack off multiple times and he came back in 80 to win the US Open and PGA, then the great cap to his career in the 86 Masters. So he won 3 majors in his forties.

Not as much a foregone conclusion as it once was with Tiger, but I think he will get it together.

The dude hasn't had sex in 5 months...his right arm/neck injury is carpel tunnel from wanking too much.

before all this I would have said 90 % chance he passes Jack.. now.. ill say 80%. I am not a Tiger fan and dont want him to do it, but he is still young and very talented.

That's the way to look at it, the mathematical aspect. Tiger's winning percentage would have to be cut more than in half to fail to reach Jack's record. You can't overreact to a short stretch, either up or down. When Tiger was dominating a few years ago there were projections he'd reach 25-30. That was equally foolish.

Even now, Tiger will fare well if the scores settle closer to par. He still finds ways to escape bogeys, beyond what his long game warrants. Tiger is regulated if the winning score reaches -16 range like the Masters and Players. I guarantee he's rooting for Pebble to be set up difficult. They might not be able to keep the scores up at St. Andrews, given the length of those par 4s, unless the weather is brutal.

I agree. Heck, Tom Watson nearly won the Open Championship last year. Anything is possible, and in this case, very probable that Tiger eclipses Jack's major championship record. I say yes. The difference between Tiger and most other golfers is his tenacity and determination to win majors. Even if it takes a year or more to get his swing refined, he'll have plenty of opportunity to surpass the Bear.

I feel like Jim Mora, "Majors?". This guy's swing is awful and you're talking about "Majors?". I think Jack's record might turn out to be safe but Tiger has a long time to catch him if he stays healthy. I think anyone that believes he will win a major this year is crazy.

As long as his health is there, I think he will do it. Jack won 6 majors from age 35 to 46 I think it was. He's struggling now, but once he gets his swing back on track and don't have any injuries, he will be back. Remember he finished 4th at The Masters, his first tournament since November, with a swing that sprayed shots all over the place.
