Actually I went to my dealer to inform the possibillity to order a set of 3-7 in 710 CB plus 8-PW in 710 MB, as I prefer blades in the scoring clubs and a little forgiviness in the longer clubs ....... he said he also had a 2009 set in stock called the ZB, that could well be what I was looking for.

Got them fitted yesterday morning, TT Black Gold + 3/4" flex between R and S for me, 3-PW (although the 3i might end up somewhere.....) ..... will be ready on Saturday.

At a start I will be using the set at the range ..... if I like them as much as some of you guys, the will replace my 2010 Wilson Staff FG-Tour.

Nothing wrong with the FG tour, but from about 140 yds in I am not as lethal as I was before.....

With an 8i I need to go for the pin, not for just the green ..... it may well be personal, but it feels like the ZB will do this better than the FG Tour.

On the other hand the FG 4i is very solid on the long par 3's.

lol........

Why not go for the Titleist ZM's and get it in the hole instead of getting it near the pin. Because after all, the model irons you use dictates where your ball goes.

edit: sorry don't mean to come off as a dick but it seems like the big topic of discussion on this forum is blades. Everybody and their grandmothers are somehow convinced that they can hit a blade like "butter" and can shape shots better than most tour players. All the while, most low h'cappers I play with stick with simple semi-cavity back irons. Maybe I'm alone on this but I don't shape my shots as much as many of the high h'cappers on this forum claim to.

Congratulations on the ZB's but at 14h'cap, I have doubts that you can get the ball any closer to the pin. If anything, you may actually have less consistency in getting the ball near the pin.

but hey its your clubs and your game.

Fantasy is what keeps golf alive. I used to buy new sets of clubs all the time too. I actually believed they would help my game. I wised up, got fitted, and got the clubs that were reccomended to me by the fitter. Much better idea. Now I only have myself to blame if I can't hit it close.

Blablabla....... always ppl say that blades are for low handicapers, but IMHO it has little to do with your handicap, but on how well you hit the ball !

I used to play from 5.6 when life started to mean raising kids, etc. didn't play golf more than 2 or 3 times a year over the past 15 orso years, started again this winter and went from 45 to 13.8 at the moment, target is single HC this year....... I have always been playing blades before, see no point why I couldn't play blades now. Apart from that there is no difference in blades and in players cavity backs, the sweetspot is the sweetspot, distance control is the guy holding the club, direction is maybe a little better with blades....... and maybe not ......

Congrats on the "new to you" irons. They are very nice and I really love mine.

You blamed someone or something else before you "wised up" and got fitted? You did indeed live in fantasyland. You "blade haters" are a hoot. Who cares what someone else plays? Who cares if they leave shots on the course? Who cares how many sets of irons a person buys per year?? It does not effect you in the slightest. I guess I just don't understand. I bought the ZB's in Jan. and my cap has dropped 2 since then. I'm not crediting the irons for this, but instead credit practice and hard work. BUT, the irons didn't hurt my game either.

It's the FG's fault that your not hitting it close to the pin?

I guess it's not your swings problem then.

Is anyone of the opinion that blade-like clubs might be a better option for a high-handicapper who want to learn how to strike the ball well rather than expecting a shovel-on-a-stick to be some kind or miracle that compensates for the never ending list of swing-faults they might have?

In response to the original post, you have good taste in Golf Clubs. I love the ZBs, and am tempted to purchase a set just for the hell of it... not mention that making a few good strikes with a club like this is something of a confidence booster.

Here we go again... Can't we just link the 11-page blade versus GI thread and call this done?

To the OP - Congrats, hope you hit them well. For what it's worth, I agree with you. These style clubs don't require a scratch handicap, merely solid ball striking.

I don't think you understand. If I can't change their minds that blades are only for players with low handicaps no matter what, then I'll be viewed as a failure for the rest of my life. It's imperative that I win this internet battle!

i dont think you understand. If i don't play blades then nobody will think I am a legitimate golfer. I'll be viewed as a newbie for the rest of my life. It's imperative that I convince everyone that despite my 15+ h'cap, I play blades because they feel like butter and i can shape my shots!

Just for comparison, I have a friend who's well below scratch, and plays the odd tour event here and there (soon to get his card hopefully). He didn't like the ZBs, and went to the AP2s. Said he liked the forgiveness of the AP2s better.
