I had just bought some of the Noodles last week. I was impressed to see them on the list!!

Conclusion from the premium ball section. They're all good, but everyone still just wants to play Titleists.

Well from a quick look at the list it seems like there's no reason for me to stop playing the NXT Tour. It was good to see a little write up on the changes from the last model though. Now if only my course's pro shop got the new model back in stock.

I played an NXT Tour today. Great ball. Spent an hour chipping and putting with them before tee time, and they feel great around the green. Gave me good control.

I love my NXT Tours, but thinking about trying something different. The Taylormade balls are peaking my interest.

Balls are weird ain't they. You look at golf clubs and in the world top 50 there must be at least 25 different sets of clubs used but maybe only 5 different types of golf ball. I think far too many people just grab a ball and play with it, not spending enough time trying them all out. People change drivers one a season (well some do anyway) at maybe $300 per year but then they gasp at paying $10 for some balls which could save them quite a few shots per round if they get one which suits them properly.

This guide sure helps.

R9 TP Driver Stiff 9.5deg
R9 TP 4-Wood Stiff 17deg
X-Forged Prototype 3-9 Stiff (rifle flighted) 48deg, 52deg, 56deg, 60deg CG12 Wedges Newport Longneck TeI3 One Black

I picked up a dozen Srixon Z Star Golf Balls in Tour Yellow this past weekend and am in love. I don't think I'm going to play a different ball all season. The ball feels so good around the green and on it. It just melts off the putter face and the yellowish green color just looks cool in my opinion and sets me apart from everyone else =).

Yeah the Srixon Z Star is my ball of choice - I have tried the Bridgestone e6 and was disappointed. I was surprised it scored so well.

The verdict for the NXT was great!

VERDICT: A Pro V1 might have the capability to do more things, especially around the green, but let's be honest, you can't do those things because you're not a tour player. So turn to this ball, which satisfies the needs of all of us who still pay green fees

This is the problem with Golf Digest. On that page, they have links to two articles... one containing the opinion from a teacher explaining why everyone should play Tour Balls another implying that cheap balls are the better option.

I would think the best way to establish the right ball is try as many as possible over a period of time under playing conditions.

Is that a rhetorical question?

Sorry Zeph, I'm with the others. I get what you mean - everyone has the physical skills to be good at the short game - but there's still a big gap in actual ability. Having the potentialto putt as well as PGA Tour pros doesn't mean you actually have the ability.
