Just a quick note on the soccer world cup coming up, anybody interested in this, if so who do you think will win?

I do not really admire soccer since it is basically one of the world's simplest sports and highly unbearable when it comes to watching it ( thats my opinion, no need to argue wether it is or is not such). However i do believe Italy will prevail once again. Viva la Italia!

Saying soccer is "basically one of the world's simplest sports" is more than an opinion it's presenting your opinion as fact so some people, though not including me, may feel that there IS a need to argue whether it "isn't such"

When people say "Golf is boring" I shrug my shoulders, that's their opinion. When people say "Golf is simple, it's just hitting a little ball with a stick" I wouldn't shrug my shoulders I'd smack them. I'm sure there are soccer fans who feel the same way. Just because you say with all do respect you can't say whatever you want afterwards (classic movie) and just because you say it's my opinion doesn't mean you can attach a silly fact just before you expressed the said opinion. I'm going to pull for the US and Mexico but if I have to cheer for a team across the pond I'll go with Germany or France I suppose, kind of have to see what happens in the 1st and 2nd rounds first.

I don't necessarily agree, but of course it's an opinion. I'd like to help to ease your superstition that stems from this opinion a little, however, by pointing out the striking similarities to the USA unis in oh.... I dunno.... 1950?

Hope that helps turn around those superstitions a little, as in 1950 we did finish 3rd (though without a playoff), and that's our best finish ever.

As an Italian my heart says Italy but I'll be cheering for England. The USA is on my good side too, hope they can put up a performance like the one at the Confederations Cup.

I like the uniforms, they're alright. It's kind of cool that they are made of recycled plastic bottles too.

I wasn't aware the referees in the 1950 World Cup meeting were French! Ohhhh you mean the American Revolution... Sorry my friend, we've won battles since then =)

Uniforms? Police and Military wear uniforms, football players don't!

In football (the type that's played by moving a spherical ball around primarily using one's feet (hence the name) - not to be confused with the other type of (American) football where large men carry a miniature rugby ball around), we generally refer to the clothing as 'Kit' or 'Strip'

Nope the referee was Italian but you keep hanging on to that glory ok because (and lets just look at recent matches not all 7 times England have beat USA)England won 2-1 at Soldier Field in 2005 and 2-0 at Wembley last year.

Of course I do realize that I will be eating huge slices of humble pie on the 12th if there is an upset but I'm not worried lmao

    • Probably since the golfer has to swing the club back and up. The hands have to move back and up. You can feel them go back and up just by turning the shoulders and bending the right arm, because it brings your hands towards your right shoulder.  The difference is if you maintain width or not. Less width means a shorter feeling swing path so the more you need to lift the arms. Being as someone who gets the right arm bend at 110+ degrees, it's 100% a timing issue. I am use to like a 1.5+ second backswing. It probably should be like 1 second at most. Half a second or more will feel like an eternity. I have had swings where I keep my right arm straighter and I am still trying to time the downswing based on the old tempo.  Ideally, for me, it is probably going to be a much quicker and shorter (in duration) backswing, while keeping the right elbow straighter. Which also means more hinging to get swing length without over swinging.

    • I'm currently recuperating from surgery, so no golf, but have been thinking about this quite a bit. This and the don't overbend the right arm thing. It's hard for me to even pose the position, so I'm not 100% sure, but I feel like it's impossible to have the right humerus along the shirt seam and not overbend your right arm, unless your hands are down near your hips. If the left arm is up at or above the shoulder plane and your right arm is bent less than 90 degrees, then your right humerus has to raise or your hands will get pulled apart. Your left hand can't reach your right hand unless either the right upper arm is up or the right arm is overbent. Is that right? If it is, then focusing on not overbending the right arm would force you to raise the humerus. And actually thinking further on it, if you do overbend your right arm, then you're basically forcing your upper arm down or forcing your left arm to bend. Since (for me at least) bending the left arm too much is not something I think I need to worry about, it means that the bend in the trail arm is really the driving force behind what happens to the right humerus.
    • I managed to knock off a 3, a 13, and a 15 a couple of weeks ago. The 3 was a 185 yard par 3 with a 6 iron to 12 feet. 13 was a 350 yard par 4, which was a 2 iron and a 9 iron to about a foot. 15 was a 560 yard par 5 with a driver in a bunker, 4 iron into the semi, gap wedge to 8 feet and a putt.
