Taylormade Penta looks cheap

Early this week I found a couple of nearly new TM Penta's while playing.... so I stuffed them in my bag and figured I'd hit them later. Well today at the course I got them out to try. Then I noticed how cheaply made these balls look. Heck, you can see the joining seam from a standing position (and I'm 6ft.1in). And I'm being honest... its actually the worse seam I have seen in a long long time. The entire demple pattern is noticably lost. I can't believe TM produced such a sorry looking product.

You did not tell us how it went.
I played this ball for some fun and I would buy it again. Fantastic golf ball, Maybe you need to go buy a sleeve of them to really see how they are.

I never looked at it that closely. I needed to suck back a 58 deg iron from an 88 yard tee and pulled out the Penta and it flew high and zipped back just like advertised.

I can't see the seam. Are you sure you didn't find counterfeit balls?

P.S. What I mean by that is that I can see the flat spot where there's a seam, but there's no ridge or anything like you'd find on a plastic toy or something, no bump or ridge... So what if you can see the seam? Seamless balls offer little to no performance gains per se. From what I know a ball with NO flat spots between dimples wouldn't work much more than balls we have now.

Maybe they hadn't been properly balanced?!?!?

Yea, the flat spot (or flat band ) all the way around the ball where the two cover halves are joined. That is what I was referring too. It's just like the really cheap junk balls look. It has to have some effect on flight when struck at particular angles.

i played a couple I found and they are as long as prov1x's and they check better that pro v's. I wore those two out, and plan to pick up some new ones. High handicappers may not like them as well.

Because one guy could see a seam in his ball? Why not buy a sleeve of 3, try them out, and decide for yourself. I've never had a problem with them, they are great balls.

You're missing out then. I think everything about the Penta is awesome, except for the price tag. It performed exceptionally well for me in every way possible.

+1 . convertee from the pro v1 here. although on putting i find the pro v better. maybe thats just my yucky putting lol.

Which ball are u comparing the price tag to? its the same as proV1. 45.99 per dozen i believe.

i was quoting the edwin watts catalogue.

i got them fro exchanging 2 boxes of prov1's. which were a gift to m,y dad from some one. so i practically got them for free . =D
