I played for years with King Snakes (Cobra clones) and loved them. I switched to my current Adams set with the allure of technology fixing my game, but learned that the Indian is what needed work. I do like the hybrids in my set and they have improved the quality of my shots from 165-200 yards. It would have been cheaper in hindsight to get a few hybrids and have my other irons adjusted for lie.

All you who rip clones should take a step back and figure if that's your a$$ or a hole in the ground your stepping in. Clones are another option for those who don't want to spend the ridiculous prices for over priced crap. There are plenty of good quality clones available out there and you can start at Diamond Tour Golf.

That's exactly the point some of us are trying to make, but you missed it completely.

Nobody is saying go and buy the latest, newest clubs. What folks are saying is you do not need to spend "ridiculous" amounts of moolah on "overpriced crap", there are plenty of decent used sets, hell the OP just informed us all he's found a set of G10 for $250 - is thisoverpriced crap too? By the way, the image of the putter in your profile - is that a clone too, a "Snotty Caramel Faketura Ghost" - perhaps you got it from this Diamond Golf place you're bigging up?

Not quite, but....

I knew it...you were far too defensive of clones not to be a clone-lover. Frankly, I wouldn't be able to sleep at night if I owned that putter.

Ok, here's your fugly putter, retailing for USD50 http://www.cr•••••••••.com/proddetai...alonRHGolfClub Here's a real Odyssey White Hot XG Teron on the bay for GBP55 (approx US$77 using xc rate of 1.4) http://cgi.ebay.com.sg/ws/eBayISAPI....m=230445045846 This was the first one I found when I googled, so for sure there'll be more out there, perhaps some at better prices. If you ask me to pay $27 more for the real deal, it's a no brainer. I guess clone-lovers are just too penny-wise-pound-foolish as we say in England - False economy in other words.

Why so bitter? Were you picked on by a clone as a kid or something??

It's nothing to do with bitterness - why on earth would I be bitter about other folks using clones or fakes

I know this is a forum and everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I just don't understand what's going on inside some people's heads. I am trying to get my head around why there's people out there who think they're getting a good deal by paying what they consider little money for no name. Ultimately, although the price of the clones may be less, they may end up being worse value for money when you consider what has gone into the manufacturing and quality control process. Most of the guys defending this fake crap are doing so on the basis of cost, a theory which has been blown out of the water (or OOB since we're on a golf forum). There is a ton of good quality, proven and affordable used equipment out there. If some people think it's cooler to have a brand new set of clones / fakes than a used set of real clubs, then there's no hope for them.

I love the fact all the idiots posting on this thread think they need name brand clubs to shoot their scores. Pathetic. Honestly, get a damn life, the guy had a simple question, and you attacked him. This thread should be closed.

Did people actually attack the OP? I missed that part - people were trashing counterfeit clubs. I thought manufacturers of counterfeit and knockoff items were widely scorned in the US - my bad.

...that's cute, coming from a guy who thinks he needs a $22k guitar for it to sound good....

Buddy, you should be ashamed of yourself, fuelling the market of rip-offs.

^ That's an attack.

What the hell are you talking about? Because I have a 22k guitar means I need one to sound good? I have many instruments, and many are worth more than 22k. It's just I happen to have a 22k Stratocaster, and a $100 Squier. I'm saying they both sound the same to an untrained ear. Professionals always use the best tools they can. Chefs have the best knives, golfers have the best clubs, and musicians have the best instruments. I play what suits me the best, regardless of cost.

It was sort of out of the blue, but most regular posters have probably "attacked" another poster a pet peeve. For some people it's knockoff clubs and for other's it's pull carts with odometers.

Why should it only be limited to professionals? Anybody in any trade / sport should use the best tools they

have access to / can afford . With this in mind, they would be best served buying 'real' clubs, not rips - this is the point several people are making, but it appears to be lost even on somebody like you, a seemingly experienced player. As for the comment to the OP being ashamed, I stand by that comment. Buying rip-off gear is cheating yourself and the original manufacturer, and in some parts of the world is even a crime. It's not an attack - it's not like I insulted anybody? I think you're just being a tad over-sensitive.

He's

not buying rip off gear, he's buying clubs that merely look a lot like other clubs. They are not illegal anywhere on the face of the earth . I've hit them, and yes, they are pretty much the same damn thing. If you really think you need better clubs to be a good player, you're not a good player. They still hit the damn ball just like any other club on the market, they're just less durable, not able to be adjusted much, and they have inferior components. Seriously, not a big deal. They are merely cheap alternatives that, from a distance, appear the same as the real thing. They are made in the same factories, probably by the same people, but with cheaper metal. Your beloved OEMs already use cheaper metal, lower end shafts, and lower end grips in their mass produced clubs than they do in their tour issue clubs, so what's the big deal? You guys are making a mountain out of a molehill. Anyone with any real skill will realize the club doesn't swing the golfer, the golfer swings the club. Any club, whether it's a Ping G-10 or a Pong P10G is going to be the same in the hands of a bogey golfer. So who cares? Seriously, you guys remind me of the communists in the Soviet Union. They refused to allow people to buy products that didn't meet their standards, and forced them to purchase things they deemed acceptable, economically viable to the nation. As a result, many people died because the Soviets could not manufacture the proper drugs people needed, and it was illegal to buy them from other countries.
