To the OP. I recently read that the duck hook will occur when trying to correct this. You WANT that to happen. If it doesn't, then you are not finding how to correct it. All you need to do now is quiet your hands more and more until you are hitting it straight. I am working out the same issue and it is going great. I am having a lot of fun working through it. You will see progress, especially if you are able to hit 150 balls a day as you say. Keep your head up and don't worry about some posts on here. It is all in good fun. Good luck.

This is the answer to your golf question kevin. Your duck hooks are just overcompensations for whatever was causing your slice. (Duck hooks are the opposite of slices in terms of the club path/face angle IIRC). Think of it this way: if you're playing basketball and you miss 3 shots in a row off the front of the rim, obviously the next one you should probably try shooting a little harder. Maybe you miss the hoop completely and shoot over the rim, but eventually you'll get it. Just stick with it, and don't take this game so seriously. If your golf game really affects your entire life, and you're not on Tour, you should probably take a break from the game.

What a load of crap. Throw away your driver and hit a 4 iron off the tee, knock 75% of your irons within 10-15 feet and sink 30% of the putts and you'll be playing off +1 in no time. Obviously your iron play is better than the average tour pro.

The biggest thing holding you back is that you are delusional. Get a grip on reality, stop lying about your skills and just enjoy the game. Geeeez....

In the race of life, always back self-interest. At least you know it's trying.

I doubt he's lying. He's hitting the same flat stretch of land over and over again, into a rough circle, not a green. Good practice for striking, but not really golf, right?

To the OP, I think you got some good advice. Keep working on it. For 12 years I hit nothing but slices, fades or straight shots. As I take up the game again this year and overhaul my swing, I hit mostly hooks and draws. Its frustrating as hell, uncomfortable, but I have to believe that I'm making progress.

Hey hey, he said 250 - 300. They don't all go 300. Just most of them.

Sorry OP......but this has got to be about the funniest thread on this forum.....about pissed my pants with that "Cool Story, Bro" tag line...

OP, sounds to me that
The bottom line, is that by keeping my arms "quiet" I have been able to reduce my slices on all my clubs and increase distance. On average I am about a club longer than before for my 6i down...4i and 5i I still suck. My avg 6i is about 171, when before it was about 160-165. My 3h went from 200 from the tee to about 215-220 depending on launch angles...(I was so tempted to say 325.... lol).

Just keep at it!

It's the indian, not the arrow! But it sure is nice to have good arrows!!!!!

It sounds like your banana slice is now a duck hook. Work in a few chilli dips and you've got the start of a well balanced diet. Seriously though, how did you ever get to 8.1? Are you and Paz playing the same course?

I'm sorry, but where the hell did this come from? Am I even a part of this thread? WTF?

Best 9 holes: 35 (Trilogy at Redmond Ridge, 3163y, Par 35/70, 70.0/131)

Because you said your lowest score was in the 80's but your handicap says 5.7.

Actually, two 9 hole rounds combined equal 77. Same course, two weeks apart. I don't have an official handicap yet but when the revision date comes next week I will and it will be 5.7. My lowest full 18 is 82

granted its subject to change quickly due to me just starting my handicap and just starting to play seriously in March.

If your lowest score is 82 then your handicap will be about 14 or so(depending on slope/rating). I consistently shoot high mid to high 70's and my handicap is not in the single digits, but hey, you're not lacking confidence!!

This scenario would be the flipside - how can you be consistently shooting mid to high 70s and

not be in the single digits? How consistent is consistent - once or twice per year? What's your course rating and slope?

He plays here: 5700yds, 116 slope, 67.5 rating (actual course around here). His course handicap is 10, so 77 is playing to his handicap and if he averages greater than 78 for his counting 10 scores his index would remain double digits.

A 78 every time out would be an index of about 9.8 on that course (math could be wrong) but an average implies lower scores too.
