Can we make some sticky threads of common problems or tutorials (ex: "Chipping Techniques")

I'm new here, so apologies if this is out of line or too much too soon.

I've been looking around this forum a lot the last week or so and the one thing I wished it had were some stickied threads dedicated to specific things like "Chipping Basics", "How to fix your slice", "How to grip your club", etc.

I know that many of the things I listed above have very complex answers, but there's almost always basics to start with. Optimally these threads could link out to other sites with video clips, and take input from posts in the thread - hopefully the OP would keep his or her first post up to date based on information presented later in the thread.

I'd be happy to start at least one or two of these.

Let me know what you think. Also, if you like the idea, maybe reply with some suggestions for threads you'd like to see.

The ball flight laws should be stickied.

not sure about the other suggestions

Would be good but I think it would have to be approved by one of the forum instructors. You sure don't want bad tips circulating around.

Perhaps there should be a FAQ for repeated questions like:

Hitting ball too fat - how to fix?
How to stop slicing?
How to get more lag, stop flipping/casting?
Shank - how to fix?
Lack of distance?
How to hit fairway woods?

Perhaps there should be a FAQ for repeated questions like:

Most of those are to do with somebody's swing.

That's why most people post their swing vid's here for tips.

So maybe if there was one thread for these problems...so people had one thread to all go to to post their vids, then after some time we'll be able to filter out the most common problems and update the OP with example vids of problems, and advice and vids with how to fix it.

Maybe you should check out the "what are you working on?" thread.

There is no one way to fix everyone's slice. It has to be taken case by case, so I suspect that is why something like that can't be stickied. I suppose chipping techniques or grips could be, but it never hurts to just start a new thread. Also, there is no one way to grip the club, and there are MANY ways to chip, so those aren't really constant among everyone. If you want to know how everyone grips the club or how people chip, just start a new thread.

I think OP makes a good point. Personally, I am getting tired of seeing the same questions pop up over and over every two weeks. Then again, if these people are too lazy to use the search engine, they will probably ignore the stickies too.

Ball flight laws and parts of the swing that are definitive, fine, but how to fix a slice, hook etc? No. A slice can be so many things, even what people call a slice is different. This is why general internet tips rarely works, because it may not be the thing you struggle with. This is why everyone should post a video, so we can see what really goes on. Explaning what you think happen and what you feel is also irrelevant, we really need to see the swing.

I'd rather see a thread explaining how to properly set up a camera for recording swings. I see a lot of poor setups on the videos posted. Camera moving around all the time, wrong height, wrong position etc. It does not take a whole lot of preparation to set up the camera properly.

I'm not suggesting that this is the end-all solution to fixing swings; there's some very basic stuff out there (like basic chipping techniques, putting techniques, etc) that I believe would be more beneficial if it was available in one place. Think longer, instructional type posts.

If I have time this afternoon I'll try to post an example.

Also, it seems like the slicing example I used in my OP was a bad one based on responses.

Yea, this type stuff would be perfect for a sticky IMO
