get a camera. 60 FPS minimum. you are cheating yourself if you dont. the things you can see in slowmo are amazing and terrifying at the same time.

if youve never seen your swing on camera in high quality slowmo you have no clue what your swing looks like. gives a whole new meaning to "feel isnt real"...

I've seen my swing in slo-mo.

Looked perfect. You have to know what your looking for as well, no point looking at a slo-mo and not understanding what to do next.

Video provides both advantages and disvantages, but I would say the first greatly bypasses the latter. In a way of understanding and knowing my own swing, video is crucial.

Are 60 fps cameras significantly more expensive? When I bought a camera it was for taping my daughter, but if I can use it on my swing as well then great.

edit: just looked it up, Kodak offers a 60 fps camera for $100. In that case I sure hope my $400 camera does 60 FPS.

It is an eye-opening experience. I videoed some swings at the course earlier this week with two friends after I made a little adjustment to my iron swings that seemed to really improve my contact.

My reaction was - Wow. That's way uglier than I thought it was.

I guess the key is to try to video and analyse as fast as possible, so you can visualize and remember the feeling.

definitely encourage eveyrone to use a video.

i try to record my swing every chance I get. upload the video onto my computer and analyze frame by frame. Its surprising how many things you can find wrong with your swing.

Can the fellow golfers familiar with swing video recommend a camcorder? Is 60 FPS sufficient? If so, there is a Kodak HD portable (someone above mentioned it as well) for a good price. Maybe someone can post a video on this thread with 60 FPS and higher for us interested in making the investment. Thanks.

Video is great for identifying swing flaws that you didn't know about if you don't have the help of a pro. But it also encourages you to develop a "good looking" swing...can be a good or bad thing depending on the results it produces.

Personally, working with a pro who relied on video analysis did more damage than it helped. I don't care what my swing looks like, I just want it to perform, and if I can do that without complicating my swing thoughts using video, that's what I prefer to do. I've made great strides this way and am on the verge of having a very solid, repeatable swing, all without the use of video.

You don't have to wait till you get home and analyze. Even with the tiny screen on my 30 fps Nikon P&S;, I can still make out enough to see certain faults. My P&S; isn't a high end model, but it has frame pause and step.

People have no problems using a mirror. What is a video camera, but many mirrors captured in time?

yeah, but its tough to bring a mirror out on the range, much less look at it while trying to hit a ball.

Not if you put it in front of you.
