I have owned several different dirvers over the years. In spite of my handicap I don't have distance problems, but need some help in azimuth control. So I have found Cobra drivers suit my game better than most. I presently use a Cobra F-Speed 9 degree with stiff shaft.

Adams Speedline Fast 10 w/ Matrix Ozik stiff shaft. Had no intention of buying an Adams driver. Tried 7 different drivers. Then the pro gave me the Adams to hit. I hit the Adams more cosistantly and further than any of the Callaways Taylormade Ping etc. It probalby has a lot to do with the shaft as the Matrix shafts seem to be very good.

My favorite is in my sig. I bought it after playing 18 holes with a demo. It's longer than anything else I've tried, and very forgiving of miss hits. I've had it for 3 weeks now and we are still in the honeymoon.phase.

I really love my Ping G5 10.5.

Really interested in trying the Mizuno MP-630 Fast Track, but I'm afraid to. That price is intimidating!!

more traditional..... umm was that sarcasm????

ummmm NOPE. It has a much more compact and low profile head than many of the beastly and strangely shaped driver heads out there today (see: TM superfast, Nike machspeed, Cobra ZL, Cleveland Hibore, Callaway FT iZ, among others) and most that I have talked to agree with this statement. No idea why you would possibly feel otherwise.

Yup this. Same shaft I have on my driver and I hit it night and day better than any other shaft I have ever played.

TM r9 460. Tried one last week & it just went high straight & far.

Before that was probably my 580xd or smt455db. Both had the same shaft though. So the head was probably irrelevant to an extent.

Im not going to say that it is not more traditional then the drivers you listed there. But it's still not a traditional looking driver IMHO.

Traditional drivers I would list as the Titleist D3, PING 15 and maybe the R7 425 TP. They are traditional looking drivers....... thats just imo

I'm a huge fan of the Bobby Jones Workshop Edition driver. Very traditional look at address and the ball absolutely explodes off the face.

I realize that the subtle pear-shape is not technically "traditional". I guess maybe what I was trying to say was more "compact" than a lot of heads these days. It's just not overwhelming to my eyes like some of those other monsters that I mentioned above.

I hit the new Nike VR Tour and loved it.

WAY out of my price range, but would love to own it.

My Nickent is also a great club. Looks good at address, nice and light, best club I've ever bought, and only $75

Have to say I'm enjoying my current driver a lot - handpicked Geek DCT head with a surprisingly (I took a punt on it) good shaft. Still got my Titleist 983E as backup which was always a great head; occasionally the radar broke though so it's in purgatory for now. Liked the Titleist 975D as well; classic.

I love the Nike VR Driver. Though its $400 (US), I picked it up for $200 (US) at a golf show (and checked with Nike Golf on the serial and it was legit). The adjustability factor is fantastic and once you get use to the sound, its a great club. Adjust on the fly on range before a round, and you're golden. Its also much more forgiving than what the golf magazines say. I would definitely recommend this club to everyone...

My favorite driver is the Callaway Ft Tour. Looks great, feels great, and just overall is well designed. I would pair it up with a Titleist f4 fairway wood. I'm a very feel based player.

Irons: : X-Forged '09 3-PW in Carolina Blue, Oklahoma Orange, and Wake Forest Green grips.
Wedges: X-Forged '09 54-14 and Vokey Spin-Milled 60-7
Putter: Odyssey Black Series #8

Preferred Ball: Z-star Tour Yellow

In the Pockets: Ball, Ecotee, Switchblade Divot Repair tool, Pencil w/ Eraser.

have to agree with you here. I'm normally not a Callaway guy but I loved the look and feel of this driver when I hit it

    • Day 27 (7 Dec 25) - Got in a few swings with 9i and hard foam balls in backyard.  Setup weight fwd (rebuilt left foot really lets me feel the weight in a slightly painful way) - kept the backswing to around 9 o’clock focusing on contact and resulting divot pattern.  Like how the hard foam balls come off the face (almost like real balls in sound).  A good abbreviated session as I only able to hit about a dozen balls in the fading light.
    • Day 117 12-7 A bit of chipping practice today. Full swing- hit some real balls to see where Im at.
    • Not the part I was replying to: Handicaps did not go down much (like 0.14 on average IIRC?) when we went from 10/20*0.96 to 8/20. And a good chunk of that was from the +s.
    • I think he meant in the UK. The old system was completely different from the new one. 10/20 x 0.96 vs 8/20 would really only impact very low handicaps I think. The 0.96 serves to increase differentials for plus differentials, where 8/20 vs 10/20 works to lower differentials for all. I don't know many plus golfers who would be upset that their index got lower. A lot of really good players don't even really keep their handicaps up-to-date. They're much more interested in their WAGR rankings which get them entries to certain events.
    • Day 433 - 2025-12-07 Got some work in after Junior Elite before a night of sports (and the return of my wife!). Backswing work. Similar to what a lot of my juniors are doing.
