Right now I think I need to change something:

47 (PW), 52, 55, 58

I like the 47 and the 58 but the gap between 47 and 52 is too big I think.

How about 47, 50, 54, 58? What do you play?

I think...

you think too much. What's the yardage difference on the 47 vs the 52? 8 yds? Doesn't it get confusing when it's time to chip or pitch a ball? I'm not ragging on you personally. It just seems like there's an unhealthy amount of time being spent obsessing over club selection. I'm done my bitchin' now. Here anyways.

I think you should just take the 55 out of the bag. You don't need it. Mine are 46pw, 52gw, 58sw. I also agree with the other poster. You are thinking too much.

47 to a 52 can be up to 15 yards.. I had this issue forever, my PW was a 48 and my SW was a 56, that was a 20 yard gap, 125 was no mans land for me.

Now i got a 4 equally spaced wedges,

There is a lot to be said about taking three quarter swings with different and getting creative with your wedges. I only carry three wedges (48 (pw) 54 and 60) and becuase of this I have to definately get creative with my shots and play some knockdowns and lay the club back at times. You dont always have to take full swings to hit great shots...

PW = 46 about 115 yds
GW = 52 about 105 yds
SW = 56 about 85 yds
LW = 60 about 70 yds

I very seldom hit the 60. The 56 is my go to club around the green and most bunkers.

I carried 4 wedges at one time (46, 50, 56 and 60), but my scores never improved, I was always struggling with which one to use and I hated it.

So now I have three (48.5, 53 and 58), and I can hit any kind of shot I need to hit.

I carry 3 wedges. PW, SW and a 60*. The 60 I MIGHT use once a round when I absolutely need to get the ball high really quick like maybe carry a trap and have no green to work with. When I'm close to the green, say 40-50 yards, I don't want to be taking a full swing with a club, I'd much rather have a 3/4 or 1/2 swing with my SW. Less clubs to worry about yardages and such too.

this discussion needs to include the bounced of the wedge. This much more than the pure loft should be the determining factor. I have a SW with a ton of bounce for bunkers and deep grass and a GW with no bounce for tighter lies.

very true

the bounce can affect what that wedge does in certain lies myself-i like HIGH bounch numbers on all my wedges I like to take a healty divot (not Sergio style) so the high bounce helps me dig the turf w/out hitting it fat low bounce wedges i often dig em too deep and hit a tonn of fat shots i just switched my wedge set up from 3 to 4 (see sig) really liking the new SV Tour 60/10 (and becasue SV are my initials!! hahah) the other battle is actually practicing w them and learning all types of shots most guys will grap a sand or lob wedge once inside 80yds or so but learning how to hit that knockdown PW, or roll up 8i can be an essential part of getting up and down AND scoring

    • When does a 'non-conforming' club become just another piece of metal or plastic?
    • Day 353: mirror work again today. Working on the same stuff - wrist twist and shaft lean.
    • This is my second year playing golf, I started last season but have always struggled with a slice. I've tried multiple things to try and fix the slice: Closing the face. Rotating my right hand out or clockwise in the grip. Keeping the club head low in my back swing. Focusing on a straight swing path. Trying the straighter arms like Bryson D. (as seen in the videos above) Trying to not let me hips get too far ahead of my down swing. Trying to keep my shoulders down until after I've made contact with the ball. Etc. I recently changed to the straighter arms which has helped me adjust away from such a drastic slice. So it has helped a bit. Before that, I was trying to keep the club head low in the back swing and this was the most helpful in correcting the slice, however it drastically removed power and distance in the strikes and would even sometimes result in a hook. About a couple months ago I had a single lesson with my driver and learned some helpful things, but have since struggled to perform what I learned well. One of the things in the lesson was to keep my shoulder down more in the the down swing until after making contact with the ball. This would help the slice a bit, sometimes drawing the ball. To even it out, I was instructed to rotate my hips a bit earlier in the down swing. What I have noticed however with the earlier hip rotation is that it's really hurting my lower back a lot. Since backing off on that it's helped not injure my low back as much. I believe my main issue might possibly be the swing path, being a Pull Slice.   See above, was mid typing when you posted. I have never watched Moe Norman's swing to be honest. I have never measure my hip rotation, but I'd like to hear your thoughts on that after you read about my hip rotation / back pain issue.
    • Two questions… Are you trying to swing like Moe Norman? What's your hip turn like? Have you ever measured it?
    • I've been Playing Golf for: 2 years My current handicap index or average score is: 18 Index My typical ball flight is: Slice/Fade with a driver and FW. Generally straight with irons, varies some days left or right. The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: Driver slice. Videos:
