im sure theres much much more than just him choosing to play over attending his kids birthday... and anyways, why do you care and why are you worrying about someones life who you dont personally know and most likely never will.

I like the banner they flew over th Open Sunday, in case you missed it it read "Tiger, are you my Daddy?" Pretty bush league. But on the other hand so were Tigers actions.

thank you. this isn't a TMZ forum. and i'm sure what he meant by it is he's not going to be out sleeping with women during his kids birthday party. quite honestly, he's not my husband nor my dad so it's none of my business, anyhow. let me ask you this: if you had a sponsor's exemption to play in the major championship of your choice, would you miss your kid's birthday?

Who cares?

+1 Really has nothing to do with anyone other than him and his family.
A great shot is when you go for it and pull it off. A smart shot is when you don't have the guts to try it. ~ Phil Mickelson.

Im sure he isn't the first father to miss his child's birthday even after a promise. I missed a few myself due to business commitments. It happens.

I didn't read the article, but I've seen other athletes wish their kids or wife happy birthday in postgame interviews a few times too. What?

I actually wondered how the US Open ending on Fathers' Day would affect Tiger--i.e. did thoughts of winning on Fathers' Day and having to answer some press-conference question about his kids not being there come into play? We'll never know obviously.

Didn't realize it was his daughter's birthday -- although i'd bet he wasn't invited to the party; and if so, and if i were in his shoes, i'd be pretty bummed out about the whole situation, as the holiday will always serve as a reminder that his actions make him a cr*ppy dad.

Come on now... We all have our faults. There is no justification for calling Tiger a crappy dad. Yeah, he cheated on his wife, so he is a crappy husband. Him missing a birthday doesn't make him a crappy dad, the man has to work.

maybe i'm being too puritan, but at least in my book extensive extramarital affairs for a father with two little kids makes one BOTH a cr*ppy husband AND a cr*ppy dad.

I didn't want to sound like i was criticizing his "decision" to play in the Open though -- i'd guess if his wife truly wanted him home because they were in process of patching things up that he would have skipped the Open...i bet he didn't have a choice in the matter.

I do agree with that... I guess I just didnt really consider how that affects his kids as well. You are right.

I don't know many other professional golfers that will withdraw from the US Open and one of the biggest majors of the year for their kids birthday. I'm sure Tiger wasn't the only one missing something important.

This is REALLY weak flamebait...

Eh... The kid will have another one.

LOL! Thats funny.

    • I don't follow the LIV tour so for starters somebody would have to tell me that they are coming. Even if tickets were free I probably wouldn't go. I'm just not interested.  I've been to a fair amount of PGA Tour Tournaments in my life. I've even attended two US Opens... One men's, and one women's. I've been to college and high school tournaments as well.  I'd actually be more interested in attending a Korn Ferry Tournament or an Epson Tour Tournament. Which reminds me the Nationwide Chlidren's Hospital Championship in September is right down the street. I should get tickets.
    • LIV golf was pretty close to me in 2023, at the same course that hosted the 2023 Senior PGA.  I didn't go to either one.  I do know a few people who went to the LIV event, and they said it was pretty well attended and pretty well run.  If I had free tickets, I might show up, but I'd probably have to drive 10 miles to park to get a shuttle to come back to within 5 miles of my house.
    • As long as "in town" means a drive of less than an hour, I'd probably go.  I've never actually been to a pro golf event, so it would be a novelty. Presumably, they'd be playing on a course that I'm not normally allowed to visit, so there would be an interest in just going to see the place. My tolerance for traffic is pretty minimal, so if massive headaches are predicted it would dampen my enthusiasm.
    • I would definitely buy tickets and go watch a round or two.
