best golf courses played

I'm not nearly as well-traveled as many of you here and haven't played a lot of the "big name" courses, but here are my best/favorites (no particular order except the first).

Primm Valley GC (Desert and Lakes Courses) - Primm, CA/NV
Oak Quarry GC - Riverside, CA
Trilogy at Glen Ivy - Corona, CA
Redhawk GC - Temecula, CA
Refuge CC (Private) - Lake Havasu City, AZ
Los Verdes GC - Rancho Palos Verdes, CA
Fallbrook GC - Fallbrook, CA

The Primm courses would definitely be my favorites on the list. I've played them annually for the past 11 years (yearly invitational tournament with a bunch of friends), and it's a trip I look forward to all year long. Excellent, challenging courses that have been in pristine condition every time we've played there.

I'm pretty certain I posted somewhere on this thread a long time ago. I've played more than 50 new courses this year. Many were excellent, but two were among the best I've ever played:

Merion (East), in Ardmore, PA which will host its 5th US Open in 2013

Ballyneal in Holyoke, CO. which may be the most amazing golf experience I've had. It is in the middle of nowhere and I pretty much had this fantastic place to myself.

Favorites.  Played each once.

1.  TPC Sawgrass / birdied 17...golf highlight of my life thus far (hacked a bit the rest of that day)

2.  Kiawah Island - Ocean Course / TOUGH!

3.  Heritage Club - Pawley's/ loved the greens

4.  Caledonia - Pawley's

5.  World Tour in Myrtle

6.  Legends - Parkland

7.  The Dunes Golf and Beach Club

Favorite was Chambers Bay by a long shot.  Sadly I played one of my worst rounds there (even adjusting for rating/slope), but it was awesome nonetheless.  Angeles National was nice and I played a great (for me) round there, but it's more expensive than it's worth by about a factor of two: it's well-groomed, but not all that interesting.

The nicest course I've played so far is in Bluffton, SC in a semi-private community called Hampton Hall. Course was in the best shape I've ever seen a course, and played beautifully. Other than the weather being 98 degrees + when we played, it was the nicest course I've ever played in.

I also give a nice # 2 to Glen Mills Golf Course in Glen Mills, PA...Too expensive, but very good golf course!

Lost Dunes is probably my all time favorite.  Best kept secret in Michigan or the US for that matter.

I used to live in St Joseph, MI nearby and was invited to a social event there but have never played it.  I salivated everytime I drove past the course on    I-94.  You have to be in the know or know someone who is to get on there for sure.

The National Golf Club of Canada is the toughest and probably the best.  The redesign though at Toronto Golf is absolutely awesome and right up there.

In about a month I'm going to play Harbour Town Golf Links as well as the new Pete Dye designed Heron Point.
