I guess I should have figured this out earlier, but I had no idea just how strong his Taylor Made Burners were.

My 6i is 30° and my 5i is 27° so that is a whole club more, talk about strong LOL

I have traditional lofts (21-24-28-32-36-40-44-48 3-PW) and some of the guys I play with have more modern lofts (pw starts at 45) and
I just kind of laugh because we usually hit the same clubs into the par 3s but I may have them by 40 yards off the tee on the par 4/5s.

I went into the local golf store the other day and was hitting a demo six Cobra into the net and was hitting it 188. I was like wow they have these launch monitors jacked up so they can sell these clubs. Then I realized that the six iron was really my five iron @ 28 degrees.

The reason they are so strongly lofted is because they have to be based on who the club is for. The vertical center of gravity is at the bottom of the club face to help these players hit the ball in the air. These game improvement clubs are meant to reduce slice and get the ball in the air, so they need to offset and still have the club as easy to hit as possible. So far the loft of the club as been the choice.

...how strong his Taylor Made Burners were. A 6 iron with 27 degrees of loft? Does anyone make one stronger than that?

I checked out the Cobra S2 irons which have strong lofts. But, their 6i is only 28*. In comparison:

- My X20 6i has 30* loft. - My old 6i from set of Ping Eye2 clones had 32*.

Agreed. I was helping a friend by a set of GI clubs, and thought I was some kind of freak for hitting the Cobra FP 6 iron 220 on the simulator. Turns out it's more like a strong 5 iron in my set.

I can hit my 4 iron which is basically a 3 iron way better than any traditional 3 iron I ever hit though so I love em. Its cool to see a 4 iron go 200 yards and it's a bit of an ego boost but while Im getting used to them what I do is think of my old distances and what club I would use then I just grab a "club down" with these and it turns out they're pretty much the same distance. I dont use hybrids either. I hit my 4 iron just as far as my 5 wood. Just different flight paths. I dont have their 3 iron or their wedge. I use a vokey 52. I should get their gap wedge. I've got room too.
