I have to agree with the minority on this one. I got to the golf course when I was his age (his real age, btw) on my own and I lived farther than he does.

If you say so, but he wasn't a 16 year old a week ago. He wanted everyone to think he was 19, which made him even that much more irresponsible. People didn't even believe that his dad gave him an 08 STS at 19 years old, so you know he didn't give his 16 year old that car. I'm not a betting man, but I'd almost bet the kid doesn't even have a driver's license. He started off with lies and it went downhill from there. So you can trust anything that guy says and take up for him all you want. Maybe he should have been taught responsibility. Then he wouldn't have even had to ask the question in the OP. He'd have just gotten to the golf course and played his game.

It's funny because given your opinions, you've revealed much more about your attitudes and approach to life than OP and judging by those you'd be the last person I'd take advice from. You clearly can't see past the end of your own nose. If I had done some of the things you cherished so much in your teens I'd have likely jeopardised my prospects. Your way is not the only way. I put myself back to when I was 16/19, thought about your advice and assumptions and their application was at times farcical/irrelevant or just irrational. But then again everyone must be like you...

I don't see how you can agree or disagree. If you lived where I live and had to do a 7 mile round trip carrying a golf bag while walking along the verge of a 70mph 4 lane highway then I somehow don't think that would be in any way desirable.

That's not to say such a method with more favorable factors and a bike is a bad suggestion but if I could get a lift to the course, I'd jump at the chance.

I was king of laughing until I read this post, and it put it in perspective for me. At 19 years old, I had been in the Army almost 2 years, and had already deployed to my 1st conflict, and was out dodging landmines in Bosnia. It kind of puts it in perspective after you look at it that way.

Spoken like a true Marine. Hoorah. Thank you for your service. Whether it was USMC or Navy or whatever. Thank you.

I find it very concerning that we people lying about their age here, next thing you know people will start lying about their handicap or driving distance. HAHAHAHAHA

Kudos to SpoiledRotten and golfro for telling it like it is and not sugar-coating it.

You are diverting attention from the fact that in responding you too are open to scrutiny and without wanting to go down the line of complete insults, I really could have a field day.

Bottom line is what I might say about you could be completely wrong but who needs to base their views off complete information ! Evidently running wild with opinions is the sort of seasoned expert you are.

As was mentioned in a previous post, I call it like I see it. I knew that my opinion would be opposed by some just like the ones that think babying the kid is the right way to be. I willingly take those chances when I post my honest opinion. The risk of you having a "field day" with my comments will not cause me to lose a moments sleep. The "19" year old kid asked how he could convince his parents to help him get to the course, although his dad had given him an 08 STS Caddy, which he couldn't use. Then he came back with another "supposed" age of 16, still whining. But now, getting mad, and acting even more childish because some didn't see it his way, and those even told him that he should get off his butt and ride his bike or take a cab. All good advice. Next, I suppose he'll offer the statement that he is really only 14 and his mommy won't allow him to ride his bike that far away from the house or he can't take a cab because mom won't let him ride with strangers. Stop taking up for this guy. You're half way around the world. You can't do him a bit more good than I can cause him any trouble. All of this is simply opinions and comments about the situation.
