At a resort course. 3rd day and have only seen ONE foursome out. what a waste, golf-wise and environmentally. What's the thinking?

I say if they own the land it's up to them. Most will have a busy season when the course will be busy. The rest of the time it will be slow like you have seen.

Agreed, cherish the slow business and play away.

Maybe it feels like a waste during that season, but but it can't be an overall waste. If they weren't turning a profit they wouldn't keep the course.

I was staying at the Wynn three years ago and my room was over looking their beautiful golf course. At 10 AM, from my 10th floor room, I saw two groups on the entire course. I was itching to play so I called the front desk and was thinking that I might play if it is $150 or less. It turns out that the fee is $500.

I figured that they rather have the golf course empty and reserved it exlusively for their high rollers who might loss hundreds of thousand of dollars a night.

The last thing i want to do when loosking 100k a night is go on a comped round of golf - but maybe thats just me....

I know that during summer in desert resort areas, they literally dont expect anybody to play - since its just way too hot. But they make up for it during Spring/Fall and Winter. But then again, they should have reasonable prices during the offseason if you are actually crazy enough to take on the challenge...

Lived in the Las Vegas area for 5 years. From Memorial Day to Labor Day, many of the high priced courses dramatically reduced their rates. RIo Secco (Butch Harmon's home course) was $39 for residents on weekdays, which would be $250 during the high season. Just had to drink lots of water, with temps in the 110's.

I played at Northdale in Tampa today for $10....they just reopened with new dwarf bermuda greens.....most were good, but a few still need some work.

This week the daily price goes up $1 a day......wish I could take off and play some more, but have too much work to do.

I stayed at the Pallazo couple years ago and my room overlooked the Wynn course. I was there for 3 days and only saw about 3 or 4 groups the whole time. Truly a waste.

my get up and go musta got up and went..
