You're right. It's not about TIGER using that as an excuse...it's his blind-followers.

Well not really. I was attempting to start a hypothetical discussion about "what if" Tiger does not get back to form. Of course it ended being about IF he will get back to form (or some even seem to argue that he is on Form already)

Tiger Woods' life was a lie or rather a series of lies. Coming from the municipal track the public enjoyed the strutting and fist pumping and other antics to show the rich country club boys a thing or two. Now that behavior doesn't work with the public so Tiger Woods cannot pump himself up to get the eye of the tiger. He'll never be able to return to his old form. Too many pages have been turned. His swing needs to be Harmonized if they can kiss and make up. He may even have to make a caddy change to progress. he had a great caddy(Stevie) in the days but those days are over

you re right, if you don't think much of someones' behaviour it is difficult to go and work for them on a long term basis. Maybe Tiger ought to ask Fanny, Henrik Stenson's current caddy, for her services in the new year!

If Applby can come back from his horrible tragedy, there is hope for anyone.

I agree with a previous poster...he needs to ink the divorce papers, get his ex and the lost $$$ out of his mind, go to vegas for a stipperfest buffet weekend. Then watch out buddy, he maybe shoot 58....

Uh, before you go making stupid comments like that, get your own facts straight. He's missed one cut so far, probably misses this one for two in the year. Why don't you go check how many cuts most players miss in a year before you make a fool of yourself any further. As for poor finishes, ok, he's had 3 (now 4) outside the top 25 this year. About 75 guys per week finish outside the top 25. My statements stand up to logic, yours don't. He's playing bad golf for himself, but it's fairly average overall.

that

Ok a missed cut, a withdraw that was questionable, and no cut today lucky for him. 142 in Driving accuracy, 111 in GIR, 134 in putts per round, and 193 in total driving does not seem like a average season by anyones standards.

Balance out you selected, out-of-context stats with the following: 4th at the Masters; 4th at the US Open. Do you know any "average", middle of the pack golf pro who regularly posts results like that by the first week of August?

that

Does it really matter if Tiger gets his form back? Everyone should let the game move forward and forget about the past. Enjoy the players that are shooting well, look towards the future and the new talent that is rising. Tiger has his place and right now it isn't in the front of the pack, it is a dismal spot near the back end. I really enjoy seeing new players on the leader board each week, the mighty Tiger was fun to watch but it has gotten a little old. Much like the hype around him getting his game back or not, if it happens then we get to see him make a run at Nicklaus, if it doesn't life still moves on with or without Tiger.

Do you know any average golfer that has won 14 majors. He has been there before and therefore is better able to handle the pressure. That is why he scores better in majors. While the field is freaking out he has been there 14 times before you know. Funny thing is why all you guys defend him till death if you asked him about his play what do you think he would say? I have an idea. By the way, Putting and Gir stats are far from out-of-context, we aren't talking about his ping pong game.

The GolfChannel just showed his "shot highlights" like 4 or 5 times during the broadcast. IMO thats pretty ambitous for a guy thats at the bottom of the leaderboard. On the other hand, i havent seen a single shot of AK or JB Holmes or pretty much 80% of the Top of the leaderboard and how they got there....... The GC (or any other media network in that regard) is like a gambler, he just cant let go.

Exactly !!!

To answer the question thrown out by the title of the thread: If he never regains he form golf will have lost one of the (of not the) best players in it's history, the most polarizing player in pro golf, the most popular player in sports, and the man who has brought more people to playing and watching the game of golf. He has increased the talent pool more than anyone in history and his impact on the game will be missed. Love him or hate him, there is no disputing what he has done for the state of the pro and amateur game of golf.

Awards, Achievements, and Accolades

Tiger is a cheating D bag that hurt the game and derailed the role model of kids all over the world. Lets not forget about his own children. He did not make one mistake. He made many hundreds of them time and time again with no regards for his wife, children, or legacy. I can only hope his game doesn't come back. I was a fan btw. Low life...all i can say.

hmmm, if you want a far fetched conspiracy, maybe Tiger is sandbagging right now. I think that the PR would have been pretty bad if he came back from his "issue" playing great.

I kind of agree... (I'm always a looking for a wag-the-dog style conspiricacy)... I feel like he's playing so poorly on purpose right now so that he doesn't even have to consider being a pick for the Ryder Cup. Since he hasn't won any majors this year, he might do the same thing at the PGA Championship as well just to not be hassled with the Ryder Cup. Hard to say that because he's such an alpha male competitor... but I feel like I have to beleive he's playing possum because I love [edit] his golf game [/edit] so much. (There, I said it) :)

I just think he's writing off this year for image reasons, among others. We'll have years and years of Tiger on top. You guys wait and see.

Even par through 9 is my best.  I don't even want to think about what was my worst.

Tiger is almost dead last this week- hopefully he can get it together for the USPGA. He should just skip the Ryder Cup and get ready for next year in my view. You have to blame his management team for not managing his situation in the most efficient fashion.

Well stated. Articulate. Right on the money.

Sorry Tiger, a Nike ball found in the grass is just Tiger poop... don't want it on these hands.

    • Day 54. Was in a good place last week. Yesterday’s round killed my confidence.  Full swing practice trying to get back to where I was but struggled with being tired and tense. Back to basics tomorrow.
    • Welcome back! Evolvr.com? I don't use the full extreme end of it, and that's probably dipped to 75% or so nowadays. But I use the sole more than I don't, yeah. Also… it's good to learn this shot: Middle up. Not generally outside your feet in either direction. I generally have it slightly forward of center, yeah. Short version: tip your upper body in the direction of the slope. Look at the GC3. You can find them for really good prices sometimes.
    • 3 rainouts in a row….that’s SAD Sorry, I’m in MI or I would take you up on a round.
    • Day 3:  I tried to hit a bucket at the range but an 80 year old man (he told me his age, showed me his knee replacement scars, told me all about his chronic low back pain, etc) couldn’t pass up the opportunity to mansplain to me every little thing I’m doing wrong.  Dude, it’s my third frickin day.  I know I need to twist my hips more, I know I need to keep my head/chest down and not pop up, I know I need to hit through the ball and follow through further, yada yada yada.  I know.  That’s exactly what I’m trying to work on.  How about you tell me or show me how to do those things instead of telling me to watch Iron Byron videos?  Rough day.
    • Day 132: 5/7/24 Full Speed Spectrum Training session 8/24. 7th training program overall.    Another slow session but 4 mph faster than my last session, which was my slowest ever. Going to the doctor on Friday to check on pulled neck muscle.
