I find it ironic that Foley is a Nike guy. Or at least he was wearing a Nike hat when cameras were filming him with Tiger after round 1.

Tiger and Foley have been talking since the masters. I hope this works out as Foley is a great guy and

After tonight's Golf Channel wrap up, I'd say Foley is now a name brand coach if he already wasn't!

His fee just went up. I think I will stick with my local pro. ;)

I posted this to a Facebook group but I think people will kind of know what I was getting at...

I'm watching "Live From the PGA" and the first five minutes are, well, let's go with "interesting" to say the least. Sean is demonstrating a steeper shoulder turn with more side tilting, less #3 rolling the club back, "staying connected," etc.... Tiger's hands have already gotten deeper this week and if you watched him in the marquee streaming today you saw him doing some of the deeper hand drills - none of that "lift your arms out away from you" Haney stuff.

I just read a few articles where it seems like Foley was teaching Stack and Tilt pretty hard. He was definitely using some of the fundamentals. Which great golfers have always used.. Bennett and Plummer's stocks going to go through the roof. I just bet Tiger to win the Championship. Also bet stricker and curtis with different accounts but the S&T; swing is based on consistent easy to correct fundamentals and can be just the shot in the arm Tiger needs.

Foley actually talks down stalk and tilt and teaches a centered swing rather the S & T. There is a video on you tube somewhere where he says - I teach this... , and then shows how S & T is differnt then that and wrong (IHHO).

Centered? S&T; is centered, that's one of the parts that differ from the more common teachings. The upper and lower centers stays still on the backswing. A more "conventional" swing is often taught with the upper centers moving back, "loading" into the back foot on the backswing. The lower centers usually stay put. IIRC, Tiger is pretty much centered.

If someone could post a video where Sean talk S&T; down, I'd like to see it.

What S&T-parts; are Sean missing Erik?

i'd wager a grand tiger and sean are already working together and just haven't come out about it.

I don't think anyone would bet against that. On "Live From" last night it was like a rolling tape of Tiger and Foley on the range.

I am not a pro but merely a good player and a Tiger fan. I understand the game though. You notice my posts generally center around the Man..Tiger! First, I will say he is gonna come out of his funk..loss of his head game, but also clean up his swing-we've seen him all over the board this summer. I noticed about a month ago he was looking darn good-not sure if Sean helped him or what, but probably so. Just wanted everyone to know, that everyone that plays golf on a regular basis, which means everyone that watches and cares about the game on TV,& understands the swing ,knows Tiger has moved to S &T.; Everyone knows Sean teaches S&T; and I've talked to too many from his group his group, they all talk about taking lessons from the S&T;, how using the info., teaching from those video's, which made me go buy them, helped them. I dont think Sean would ever, ever try to hold out anything other than S&T.; He is too smart a guy to go out there and become a fraud. I've never heard him say anything other than that-never heard his guys say anything other than that and there are too many of us that know-which is everyone that knows any of his guys and former guys and all of us that watch the swing of his players. So, I think anyone that thinks Sean would discredit his mentors would be crazy. Sean, like many of the teachers of this method are being so successful that golf has changed. S&T; is the change. I am glad my Man has moved to the camp. The traditionals still have their success the Haney and Harmons..so guess there is room for everyone. But guys..Sean is S&T;, his players are S&T;, the world of golf sees it and knows it and he is another good example of what S&T; is.He is goning to bring the Man back! I dont believe anyone who would say he would try to hold out anything other than and if I thought he would-I would work against a fraud. But knowing him and his team, I KNOW BETTER. He is showing how successful this method is. That said, Sean is no fraud. He tells everyone he is S&T-he; isnt going to jeopardize time catching up with him and making him a fraud through history. He is in and his guys brought me here. I got my own little video to prove they acknowledge it-matter of fact, I have 4 others that have them too. Lets move on-see how the man does this week! lookin sweettttttt.

Tiger's hand path is definitely more in... not that it's the only thing he needs, but it's one of 'em.

His hand path is certainly more in and it's such a great thing to see. No more of this "around the world" stuff which I feel is the reason why he get's "stuck" and it's going to take him time to get comfortable with the new "feel" his is practicing and using.

Also, if you look at the club at the top of the swing, it's more across the line circa 2000 vs. laid off which, is also a great thing to see.

Who really cares who Tigers swing coach is or isn't??? I'm more of a golf fan than a Tiger fan. It's sad to me that the whole Steve Foley thing is overshadowing some great golf. I thought Tiger played well yesterday and hope he gets his groove back.... but could give a crap if he works with Butch, Hank or Steve.... At the end of the day it's up to him to swing that darned old club.

I read through your post twice, and still don't have a clue what you are talking about. Hunter Mahan is a S&T; guy now? Don't think so. Tiger going to S&T;? C'mon. There are fundamentals of a good golf swing that don't change, regardless of the teaching philosophy. But to ramble on and on about Sean Foley not being a fraud and converting Tiger into a S&T; aficionado makes no sense.

Sorry guys, I made a mistake. I found the video I watched a while back where 'Sean Foley' says he not a fan of S & T. I got mixed up as it was Sean O'Hair (A foley student) who said it.

When he acts out S&T;, he's dropping his head to the left, which is not what S&T; is about. S&T; is about staying centered with the head, upper body and lower body on the backswing, and have a lateral push on the downswing with the hips. He's doing 2/3 the S&T; way. His hips does move slightly forward, but not as much as S&T; prescribe.

He talk about his right knee being flexed. S&T; never says to straighten it out all the way, but also not to keep it at the same flex as address. O'Hair straighten his right knee a bit, but I don't think as much as S&T; prescribe. Doing this, while keeping the body centered, will keep the hips from turning, so his hip turn is not as big as someone who straightens the right knee more.

All in all, Sean got some S&T;, but not all. Sean doesn't teach S&T; pure, so that would make sense. Not even S&T; teachers teach it all to everyone. Some might need this and that part, some might need other parts.

    • Day 35 (5/7/21) - 9-hole league tonight. I can't seem to translate good drives on the range to good drives on the course and threw away a number of shots tonight. It didn't help that I had had a really busy day which included cutting the lawn. Like they say......golf is hard.
    • Well he won a pretty tough US OPEN so I think he’s got what it takes. BD pretty much a mess. Always having to resort to hero shots from tough spots off the fairway aren’t gonna win him too many tournaments. I would assume his SG off the tee were pretty poor for these rounds.
    • Looked like a tough day today. Jon Rahm didn't make the cut. I guess staring daggers at the camera didn't improve his putting any. And, what's with DeChambeau? All his length doesn't seem to be doing much good for him that I can see. He managed to sneak in under the cutline with a +2 but not a very good showing. Maybe if he dropped the Iron Byron look and added a bit more fluidity to his swing? Gary Woodland is doing OK so far but I expect to see him sag as the pressure builds. Hovland had a hard day, too, but only 5 shots back
