I'm a West Ham fan, and when I saw away to Aston Villa for the first game, I was a little scared. But now, with Martin O'Neill suddenly resigning, I'm hopeful that we may actually get at least a point (if not all three) from this fixture. Three points away to Villa would be a flying start to Grant's tenure.

I watched some of Spurs v. City this morning as I was getting ready...most of the 1st half. City were in, basically a 4-6 formation (Tevez up top by himself) and looked pretty poor. Gareth Bale looked good for Spurs.

i'm absolutely thrilled about my reds staying together, save mascherano. i honestly was preparing for both gerrard and torres to leave as well, which would have left us in ruin for the next 5 years. but aside from reina's snafu with the own goal, they didn't look too bad against a solid arsenal squad. although we won't be playing in europe this year, i'm still excited to see how the season unfolds. i'm still waiting for aquilani to come into form, and quite eager to see joe cole have a breakout season.

Well, I guess you're a lot happier than I am right now.

The Avram Grant era has started off with a tremendous thud. Two games... two losses... a -5 goal differential. Nothing like digging yourself a giant hole right off the bat. Last year, it was our better goal differential that kept us above the relegation fray.

two thrashings by arsenal and chelsea this weekend, but the best match was over at craven cottage. my fellow statesman, clint dempsey, wasn't at top form, but anybody small club who can hold manyoo to a draw gets a few shouts and screams at the tv from me anyday. game of the week, however, liverpool v. man city. go reds!

I guess there is a ray of sunshine in regard to West Ham's performance so far... at least we aren't Wigan.
Ouch.
The cornholing by Chelsea isn't that much of a shock, but the fact that they'd already been loosened up by Blackpool in week one (4-0) was a real shock. Nothing like having a -10 goal differential two weeks in.

Yank LFC supporter for nearly 20 years. We have a 10+ year old Labrador Retriever named "FOWLER" to prove it!!! Going to be an interesting season for the Reds, I'm afraid. Latest is that Mascherano is refusing to play against City today (starts in 45 minutes) to force a move to Barcelona.

I like him a lot. I'd much rather sell Kuyt to Inter, who want him for 15 million pounds apparently. Fools! Sell him!

Does the EPL have a mercy rule?

Question for soccer players in the US. Where can a middle aged guy who's in decent shape (24 min 5k) but never played a lick of soccer start off?

i really hope the game against city today isn't a preview of the season to come for liverpool. if there's one thing that gets my emotions going as much as my golf game, it's watching liverpool football. i really hope they get sold to a competent owner, the hicks have already proved that they should not be within 100 miles of any sports team, anywhere, ever. i hope we can put up a top three showing this season, start building, and ensure a solid team for the next decade.

My first soccer game when I was seven or so was against a traveling team called the Strikers.

They beat us 13-0. Of course that was tame compared to the beating we took when we decided to try indoor soccer. We played another traveling team. 32-1.

      Ok, I'm trying to find a feel to hit a consistent ball flight (irons).  My current predicament.  1. I try to do the arms down stuff better, with the club feeling like it is way behind me more. It's just a cluster of results. Most of the time, I can't get any speed on the swing. If I get my arms down faster, I just throw them out.  2. I focus all my attention on turning better. Pushing off with my left leg and getting my right side through better. On the DTL view, this doesn't produce anywhere close where the hands and club should be. The result is usually ball first contact, lower ball flight, more centered contact.  At this point, I am going with option 2. Stop thinking about what the hands do. Just make a shorter backswing, keep it wide, turn through. Somehow, the club head finds the ball. My focus is so much on just making sure I turn, it's like, "Oh, that contact was better.... Oh, that bell flight looks playable." If not, I will just be practicing my entire summer.

      Nope, they spent too much money. They are in over 28 million on the football roster and related NIL compensation at this point. Boosters associated with any Texas college football team has HUGE sway. The AD is between a rock and a hard place. They put a lot of money into Sorsby, at the chance of winning a NC this year. If you move on, you basically wasted a lot.  This is why Ohio State wants 3 QB's they feel can start. That is why the backups the past 5 years at some point transfer. Texas Tech has no backup near the quality of Sorsby. If they move on, they are screwed for 2026.
