...Favre is pronounce "Farve" and not "Favré"

Personally I think he changed the pronunciation cause Favré sounds a little, well, less then masculine.

It's a French name, and there's no accent on the e to make it sound like "ay." It's like "Louvre" --- the "correct" pronunciation of that is "Loov-ruh" (with a "swallowed" R and a deadened "uh," a sound that English doesn't really use). Favre would be pronounced "Fav-ruh," again with the non-English swallowed R. Since sportscasters and football players aren't generally known for their delicate handling of foreign pronunciation, it becomes Farve.

It's a bit surprising that it's not "Fahv," which is actually a bit closer. I'm not actually sure how Favre himself pronounces it, it is also possible that his family has "simplified" it since they live in an English-speaking country...

It's a bit surprising that it's not "Fahv,"

Yeah, no doubt.

I think it must have gone like this: A: "Fahver?" Favre: No, "Favre" A: "Faruhv?" Favre: No, "Favre" A: "Flaaaarvererer?" Favre: Aw @$# it, it's "Farve"

Yeah, that all makes perfect sense. I had a feeling it is a French name (that's why I'm so befuddled about the American version) and also figured the new pronunciation had to do with Americans being sloppy. I would think the "Fahv"ish type pronunciation you suggest would be more appropriate as well. "Farve" is just rediculous.

Farve can wear Wranglers and be country.

Precisely.
